I'm a newbie so forgive the poorly worded and long post. I have a 2007.5 Chevy with the D/A LTZ ext cab short bed 4x4 Z71. Had to drive from OKC to Montgomery AL for a funeral. After about 7 hours on the road, I pulled off to stay the night in Shrevport LA. As I was getting off the interstate and I felt a very hard bang and downshift. Made it to the hotel garage but now only a low gear present and the check engine light was on. Onstar said 2 trans faults and take to dealer immediately. Red River Chevy was directly across the street from the hotel. They ran diag. and said it was a "hard fault" so no easy reset. Next day it turns out it was the (I think) TCCM or transmission control module. Dealer said GM doesn't make a replacement part so the dealer took one off of a new truck on the lot to get me back on the road. No further problems. The truck had 4000 miles when it happened. BIG THANKS to Red River Chevy.
