I have a question about how the memory seat feature on my '05 Silverado CC should work. Here is what I understand about the seats.
Set the memory option for driver 1 and 2. This work fine.
When I press button 1 then the seats move to the correct position. When I press button 2 then the seats move to the correct position. When I press the exit button then the seat moves to the exit position.
Through the DIC I can turn on easy exit mode so that when I turn off the motor the seats move to the exit position.
All of this works fine.
The question is when I unlock the doors with the Keyfob and then start the vehicle should the seats move to the memorized position based on the keyfob used? I ask this because the keyfobs are labeled 1 and 2 on the back.
The sales rep indicated this was how it should function however mine is not doing this and I can find no documentation on it in the manual.
If it was not designed to do this then why have the keyfobs numbered 1 and 2?
Thanks in advance to the help.

Yes,
When you unlock the vehicle, the seat should move to the memorized position, based on the FOB used, Driver 1 or Driver 2.

Thanks for the quick reply Redapple. Mine has never worked either so I guess I will get it into the shop to have it looked at soon.

This can be configured in the DIC. It's on page 3-56 of the '03 Sierra manual under Instrument Panel, Driver Information Center:
Seat Position Recall
Press the personalization button until SEAT POSITION
RECALL appears on the display. To select your
personalization for seat position recall, press the select
button while SEAT POSITION RECALL is displayed
on the DIC. Pressing the select button will scroll through
the following choices:
SEAT POSITION RECALL OFF (default): The memory
seat position you saved will only be recalled when the
memory button 1 or 2 is pressed on the driver’s
door panel.
SEAT POSITION RECALL AT KEY IN: The memory
seat position you saved will be recalled when you
put the key in the ignition.
SEAT POSITION RECALL ON REMOTE: The memory
seat position you saved will be recalled when you
unlock the vehicle with the remote keyless entry
transmitter.
Choose one of the three options and press the
personalization button while it is displayed on the DIC to
select it and move on to the next feature. For more
information on seat position recall see Memory Seat on
page 2-67

I think I read somewhere here on the forum where GM has disabled the key fob feature on MY 2005 and newer due to too many problems related to training the owners that fob 1 goes with memory position 1 and fob 2 goes with memory 2.
I think it was in the Ask the Techs section.

They must have because a I just tried what watchdawg said it it did not work. What he describes it what I would expect to happen however it does not on mine. I suspect then you are right that it has been disabled.
Anyone know of a way to enable it?
Thanks

My salesman set mine up for me when I took delivery of the truck.
I have had no problems.

That sucks. I take it that there is no way to reprogram this to work either.
Thanks for the help.

Wow, what a shame. Before you give up you should call your dealership and see if THEY can reprogram this feature. I'd be surprised if they changed more than the interface!

In my truck if you set the seat memory for both seats while driving the radio memories are erased. They come back next time the truck is started.

I called my brother who works in the service department for a Chevrolet dealer and he got one of the tech on the line for me to speak with. He was not aware of any way to enable this on an '05 model. He said he would look some more but he saw nothing in any of the advanced codes either.

If you do a search you will see that there is no way to enable this on 2005 models. I even got in a pissing match with Technical Assistance over it. Apparently they say it had something to do with the memory seat module losing its mind (overworked) so instead of redesigning the module to work correctly, they eliminated the feature...
