: Saw something interesting yesterday, Banks LLY.

It was on another truck (I'm not naming names) that was 2wd, so the ET's were purely a matter of traction, not power.

But it appeared to run 7mph slower ET than the 100HP Predator on the same truck, same day. Rumor is the Banks "eases up" on the motor due to trans slip, but the Predator seemed run just fine at max power.

It seems to me that the Bank's system errs on the safer/conservative side whereas the Predator seems to be more aggressive. I've been doing my research on these systems and I'm just up in arms because I'm confused on which system to put on my truck. It's been very frustrating. From what I gather, many of the members on this site seem to favor the Predator. So, if the Banks system "eases up" on the motor due to trans slip, what does the Predator do? The Predator's got to also cause trans slip to occur also, right? I'm not a mechanical expert on these diesels, but if the Predator is more aggressive, doesn't the trans slip also?

The Predator does not do anything to protect the trans that I'm aware of.

If you hot rod it on 100HP, you will limp the transmission after awhile. That is nearly a 50% increase over stock HP, or like adding a 10PSI supercharger to your family sedan.

If you do not wish to limp the transmission, for all tuners, stay at 65rwhp or less. 100+ HP tuners are not for towing, they are Mustang Killers. In 2wd, they will roast your tires on command, and in 4wd, they can bend your tierods.

Whether or not the Predator is the best module out there remains to be seen. The tune I have in my truck (TTS Lvl2) IMO, is superior to the Predator, but it has not been officially released yet. As far as released products go that are Smokey Trans Killers, the Predator is certainly one of the best.

What is odd, is that I hate the Predators for gasoline engines. Haven't been impressed. And some say the LB7 version ain't a miracle either.

But not everything is on the table yet for the LLY, they are just getting started. What will be Killer Tune by the time June rolls around will most likely be far different than what is currently touted as being the Hot SetUp.
