: Do you have a 2004 Navigation Stereo?

I have the opportunity to get my hands on a GM T800INR stereo/nav unit for about $450. I believe it's part #15204334. It says it's for a 2004 model year. But I have a few questions for those of you that have this stereo. I did a search, but couldn't seem to find information pertaining specifically to a 1998.

1) Would you happen to know if it would fit a 1998? Would I need to do any oddball type modifications?

2) In my search, I found out that I would need an adapter or other module to allow video input (DVD or back-up camera). Is that correct? Is the screen resolution sufficient for DVD?

If I don't get it, anyone else interested? Unless I'm mistaken, I think it's a pretty good price.

It won't work with a 98 - even if it fit in the dash the communication system required isn't in your truck.

The '98 has a DIN and a half opening. The radio in question will definitely not fit as it is a double DIN size and, starting in 2003, GM made all the pickup truck radios Databus driven and that system is compatible only with Databus equipped trucks, just like he said above.

Oh. :( Thank you for the quick reply, guys. It wasn't the answers I was hoping for, but I do appreciate your taking the time to give me the scoop.

Thanks again.

The only straightforward option for NAV that I can find is a single DIN with a motorized screen. Like the Kenwood kit on Crutchfield for $1100 (ouch). At least for that money, they'll throw in the harness adapter, antenna adapter, and mounting kit.

Yea, unfortunately that's what I was trying to avoid. Actually, I wasn't even really considering a NAV unit, but this seemed like a good deal. Oh well, this project will have to wait.

Thanks again, guys!
