I have been reading some posts about painting the exhaust with high temp paint and have a few questions?

1. how much prep work needs to be done before starting to paint?
2. should primer (also high temp) be used?

this is for aluminized

Thanks

The whole system, or just the cheerleaders megaphone tip?

i did my whole system (including tip) with black high temp just the other day, i would reccomend buying a real black tip if that is the color tip you want as mine already has a few little rock chips in it. as far as prep i just wirebrushed the whole thing and sprayed.

I did the tip, I followed the directions exactly on the high temp paint and have had no problems. I sand the exhaust with light sand paper and then painted with High temp black paint , let it wait an hour then bake it on.

:D

kakymax - got pics?

Does high temp come in white??

If I paint, it will probably just be the tip.

How well would the paint prevent rusting?

Look at VHT's website they have a bunch of colors. I've used the black quite a bit. It works well. I like to warm the pipe up and paint it wile it's hot. After a coat or 2 if you rub it with a rag it turn to a kind of satin finish.

Thanks Jerod, but the website is under re-construction :(
