Hey has anyone seen the new Hypertech programmer that is due to come out in February. Since I am new to this and need a little more get up and go pulling my fifth wheel, the local accesory guy told me to wait for this. It supposedly allows you to pull up to 12,000 pounds in stage 3 withoug having to worry about temperatures. It looks somewhat like the Edge with Attitude, and as I understand does what the Edge does and allot more and can be mounted on your visor or other locations.

Is it for the LLY or the LB7?

Supposed to be for both as I understand it. As I am having TTT mirrors installed by the same facility, I will ask and let you know

I saw an advertisment on this product on tv the other day, I think it was during spike tv's powerblock, haha, but yeah, it looks like it's a nice unit, it's touch screen too isn't it?

The only way to pull heavy is not to add hp/tq. No product, and I repeat no product will allow you to pull heavy if it adds high hp/tq. There is no trick for any company to make high hp and give high towing capacities. No stock tranny will hold a true 100hp and 200 to 250 tq with weights that heavy. The proof will be that hypertech will not buy you a new tranny when yours is lost. The lower cost programmers are able to tow in higher levels because they make less hp/tq; If the new hypertech does allow for high towing it is because it makes less hp/tq than it's competition, "it's that simple". How much less expensive is the Hypertech vs the Banks kit? Would it be more cost effective to buy the Hypertech and add an exhaust system? Maybe include a Fingers Stick, and a EGR Blocker plate? The Hypertech can also adjust speedo error.

Does Hypertech help with Tranny issues? Some people seem to be having some issues with the Banks system and their trannys.

I saw an advertisement for it too... it's called a HyperPAC... Touch screen... Monitoring, Diagnostics, Tuning levels, built in Dyno... lots of other stuff too. I've seen Jeg's and others are already taking orders... $799... not bad... I am definitely getting one.:ro)

Doesn't look like the goodies, EGT or Boost are included though.

How would it be able to tell egts without a thermocoupler?

You pop the hood and touch the exhaust manifold. There is a microphone in the unit that determines the temp by how loud you scream. ;)

Seriously the only way to tell EGT's is a pyrometer. The stock engine does not have any sensors.

It says it can figure out HP as accurately as a dyno. Or better.

It has been tried before with varying luck. If you know the weight of vehicle, and you know how fast it is accelerating, and the RPM the engine is spinning, yes you can calculate a HP/TQ curve.

This new programmer was supposed to be released in February, but because of some problems, they now say that it won't be until April or May.
