I have an 04.5 that I bought in October. Nearly every time that I shift into 4th gear i get a slight grind. Sometimes it won't happen but it does happen more often than not. I've had others drive it with similar results. Has anyone else experienced this and/or done a fix on it? I would go straight to the dealer but I use my truck every day and I am looking for a fix without losing my truck. Thanks.

mine does it also, I slowed down on the shifting, (wait after pushing the clutch in) just a little and it has helped a little.
Same here. 2nd and 3rd have dual cone syncros so you won't see that but 4th is still low enough you want to shift fast.

I notice I have to shift fast into 4th to keep it from making some noise.

I haven't experienced any noises with mine as of yet. Maybe because it only has 28000 miles on it. I guess time will tell.

Mine didn't used to do it, now with 56K miles on it, I get the 4th gear grind about half the time. Can't seem to figure out whether slower or faster shifting makes it better or worse, it just seems completely random to me. If anyone knows the secret to longer life on the 4th gear synchro, please share it.
