After a cold snap last monday my truck would not start after work (single digits all day, no plug in place) which was expected. It tried like hell, but no joy.
two days later, with temps in the 40's (welcome to Missouri) still no luck on starting. I get an occasional pop out of it, and some light smoke from the tailpipe, but nothing more. Drug it home, plugged in all night, still no start.
Glow plugs all have voltage to them, and all pass the test-light inpsection. Fuel is good, lift pump lifts. I have drained the filter bowl, and installed a new filter. The lift pump filled the bowl on cranking. The ECM circuit gets power when the key is on, so I am guessing that the ignition switch is good.
I am chaning out the Crank Position Sensor in the odd chance that it is flaky on me. The only other things I can think of is dead FSD or bad starter.
Is there a test procedure for the FSD that does not include buying a new one and swapping it out (mine is remotly located)? Also would a weak starter cause a no start? I bought two new batteries, and the engine still seems to not be cranking at the normal speed. I am wondering if I killed the starter trying to light it off on the cold day?
Help me, Obi-wan!
