Alright guys I need help making a decision. I currently have a 2007.5 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 6.6 LMM. I have been having problems with the coolant and with Gm buying it back. I am having to get a lawyer to get my truck bought back after the area rep told me it would definitely be accepted...
My problem is now I'm so fed up with GM I am considering buying a Dodge Cummins. I have only heard good things about them but see some people post about why they would never buy a dodge. I am aware of the cheap interior but at this point it would be a much better alternative than dealing with GM anymore. I'd just like to know what you guys think about them.
Thanks,

The only reason to buy a dodge in my opinion is for the motor. The rest of the truck is trash. I have had two of them and wont buy another.

Buddy just bought one. Nice truck. He opted for the mega cab with the little bed but I must say there is TONS of room in that back of that thing. Few things I dont like about it and some things he doesnt like either. But he got one Heck of a deal on it and they gave him 4k more for his dmax then what any GM dealer was willing to pay. He traded in an 01 with injector problems. He says he's gonna keep it stock for a while so we'll see. Interior does feel cheap and dash is FLAT. I dont remember what my truck felt like stock but his truck doesnt feel as strong as I remember. He has the exhaust brake option which was kinda fun to play with. I like the grade-brake a little better. But thats my opinion. I would Strongly suggest test driving one for a while and checkin everything out first. If it came down to it same price for LBZ or LMM vs the 6.7 I would opt for the LBZ or LMM mainly b.c of whats wrapped around it.

If it were me I'd look for a 5.9 over a 6.7. Check out the forums at dieseltruckresource.com; the 6.7's have been having some problems. I'm not up on all the DM stuff, what's the GM buy-back all about?

Honestly dodge makes some nice trucks, i wouldnt call them trash. Id take a gm for comfort and drive but most dodges are nice, especially the 04 and up. I cant blame ya for bein a little piss poor at GM, i would be if i had problems with a brand new truck, but you can have that risk with any new model year purchase, just like a 6.7L cummins, you never know. Buy whatever you really like, if you like the LMM's get another one, if you want a dodge, dont try to justify it, just get one and give it a shot. Honestly you CANT go wrong with either a Dodge or a GM.

I agree with going with the 5.9 if getting a dodge. That motor has been around since 83 I believe, the 24V since 98. It'a rock. The 6.7 looks impressive, but like anything else new, it's probably good to wait for the bugs to get worked out.

First of all I want to let you guys know as far as trucks go I love my LMM. Its unfortunate what has happened to it in the way of problems. I believe the duramax is a good engine and that the quality of the chevy truck is unbeatable. However, after GM tried to blame me for the problems and after 8 visits to the shop they told me I was always in a rush and was too busy to leave it with them after they wouldn't give me a rental I got a little pissed. It has been a constant headache and as much as I love my truck I would love more to not give GM any more money. I am not even considering a 6.7 because of the emissions crap I had to deal with the LMM. Great for people who want stock stuff but that ain't for me. Lookin at 2004-2006 2500's and I found a lifted mega cab that i like. I'm to the point where I don't care about the interior I know they are cheap but it will do.
Thanks

We have both an 02 Duramax and an 04 Cummins I prefer the Chevy truck but to be fair we have had no problems with the 04 Dodge and the Cummins runs forever we have 265,000 miles on a 1991 and the motor has never been touched!! I like both after owning them just stay away from a ford!! esp. sick-o

I don't understand what's "cheap" about the interior on the Dodge's. Mine have been great, and so I ordered another. I don't see any quality differences between the Dodge and the Chevy, just different designs. The 6.7 is a torque monster, maybe not on paper or in the magazines but in the real world they are amazing. Go drive one.

I would take a Dodge/Cummins over a Chevy/Duramax any day if I was looking for a solid reliable work truck, I have owned 2 over the years and never had a problem with either. They combine all the things I would look for in a true truck, SOLID axles, No pump rub, Cummins reliability, decent fuel mileage, an available manual transmission. I have had such bad luck with my Chevy I doubt I will ever buy one again.
