So these come in a heated, electric and lighted version. The, as I understand are for marker lights and turn signals.

My question is: What is required to get the TTT mirror turn signals to work on a '04 Chev 2500HD that currently has the std heated/power mirrors (that look like they came on a 1/2 ton)? Is the add'l TTT wire harness enough to get the turn signals to work, or do I have to run wire under the dash and tap in below there? I recall seeing the marker lamps have to be spliced into the dash wiring to work, but how about the turn signals?

I tried to do a search, but didn't find this answer. I'm sure its there, but this is quicker and I need to know soon so I can respond to the GB.

Thanks
Clint

You will have to run a wire under the dash for the park light function. Turn signal is in the door.

Be warned the updated instructions that come with the TTT mirrors it's a sheet of paper showing an alternate way of running power to the parking light feature causes the parking lights to be always on when the key is on, there's no way to turn them off without a switch.

Thanks all. I went to the TTT mirror page and downloaded the instructions. I assume the red wire is for the turn signals, which ties into a red wire already in the factory mirror harness in the door. The yellow wire is for the marker/parking lamps that needs to be fed under the dash.

One last question: Do the Chev's come with the red wire in the factory mirror harness if my truck only came with the factory power/heat mirrors (no turn signal)?

If all I have to do is connect the red wire for the turn signals, then I'll get the lighted version of the TTT and not connect the parking lamp (I don't think its necessary, and could be destracting at night). If that red wire isn't available in my factory harness, I'll stick with the power/heat only version and save some $.

Thanks

If you're worried about the parking lights being distracting at night to you, you can't even seen them from inside the truck. They are fairly bright to the people outside though.

My 03 also only came with power/heated mirrors and I was able to use the harness in the door and the harness that you buy with the mirror's to make the turn signal's work, but had to run a wire to the light switch for the parking light's to work. As WAskier stated you don't see the parking light's from inside the truck, their only visible from the front of the truck, so as people are coming towards you they will see them. And the turn signal's are visible from the rear of the truck.

WAskier, I wired them up like the instruction's said and mine come on when ever the dash light's come on which is at night and the auto light's turn them on. Even if I turn the auto-light's off the dash light's and mirror light's are still on, but if you turn the dimmer down so the dash light's go off the mirror light's will go off too.

Cool Diesel Dragon, that's exactly what I wanted to know. I don't need the parking lamps; might be nice if the markers were just reflectors. I do want the turn signals, however!

I had the factory heated/power mirrors originally(basic mirrors on an LT). The turn signal is in the door just connect the red wires on the TTT harness to the mirrors. I tapped in to my roof clearance lights on each side for parking lights. Less wire to run and they only come on with the clearance lights that way:ro)

Diesel dragon - my set came with a supplementary sheet that shows a different way to wire the parking lights instead of in the dash you use a wire in a harness just to the left of the brake pedal.

I see your truck is a 05 maybe they changed the wiring again

Maybe do as Buck did if you just want them to come on with the regular parking light's.

I've had my TTTs on for over a year now and love them. I had a bit of a hassle getting the wiring correct and actually had to go to the site for the correct instructions after I dead-ended on the ones supplied. Power and heat are straight out of the door looms on my '01 - I had to tap into the BCM for turn signals and auxiliary block in the driver's kick to wire the marker lights - including a long wire run all the way across from the driver's kick to the passenger door. My markers go on and off with my clearance lights. My turns work great, but flash in reverse sync to the front and rear bulbs (no biggie). The clearance lights (and turns) are not visible from the seat - this is great for night driving, HOWEVER, it means that the light housing sticks out 3/4 to 1" beyond the visible rear edge of the mirror and I've rubbed mine a few times on the tight clearance exiting my one-car garage! They are very tough and have taken a couple of scary snags with no ill effect!

I just installed my TTT's a week ago and this is what I was going to ask about this morning. I thought I wired something wrong, I'll try and find a way to fix it to where they only come on with the lights.

On the TTT website, it shows the old instructions and also has a link to update. WASkier used the update to wire the marker lights, which looks less involved than the orig method of tieing into the light switch wires. Both instructions are in PDF format. Thanks to his post, now we know they stay on with the ignition however.
This is one reason why I want the turn signals but not the marker lights.
Thanks
Clint

If your truck has the 5th wheel wiring option there's a bundle of wires behind the cab by the fuel filler. Handy place to tie into the parking lights.

Yeah I've been thinking about rewiring mine so they aren't on all the time but then again it's one more thing for people to see during the daytime and maybe it'll keep them from hittin' me. Since they're LED's I'm not too worried about them burning out anyway. And I'm just lazy ;)

Well, after much deliberation (and some yellow DRL's installed) I think I'll get the lighted variety and go ahead and tie in the marker lights via the updated instructions (like WAskier did). During the day, they'll match the DRL's; at night the headlights will be on anyway...
Thanks all

That should work out pretty good for you, I can't figure out the Factory service manual for the life of me otherwise I'd post another way to wire it so they come on with the parking lamps but those wiring diagrams are not organized well and are really confusing.
