anyone ever try doing this yet, looking to get a fuel pressure guage and want the ease of just running some more wires into the cab instead of a small hose.

moss022,

Put in an Autometer Z Series 2661, and run the sensor off the outlet port of the post oem filter head. Works slick.:D

Do they make one similar that shows negative and positive pressure so we can monitor filter restriction with lift pump off?
I just added a switch so I can shut the lp off when the engine is running. It would be really handy to have both.

They make a full sweep electrical gauge for pressure/vaccum in the Sport Comp series, but I'm not sure if it's rated for fuel. Probably easiest to call Autometer to find out. Here's a link:

i've been running the 0-15PSI electric fuel pres. gauge for over a year now. mounted in the a-pillar. works great!

I am putting in an auxtank/toolbox, I am considering putting in a Racor filter and lift pump at the same time. Can I put in a fuel pressure gauge on the Racor? Should the filter be before the lift pump or after?

Thanks, this is a great site! I have learned a lot in my last two months of reading posts!

I've been running the SPA fuel pressure gauge and yes it swings both ways!

you know sycamore is just about 15-20 minutes north of me :D just a tid bit. so they run pretty smooth then??

I'll snap a pic tonight. SPA also has a high limit recall and low pressure warning light. I removed the factory pressure tap/fitting by the alternator and installed the SPA sending unit into the factory hose.

Moss,
How's this?

I haven't tried the fuel psi gauge, only the boost/pyro. Does the fuel unit read in -psi, or -"hg?

psi on the + side, but it also reads a negative number when I drive without the Fass pump turned on, which could indicate hg.:confuzeld

Know anybody with a connection to SPA that can find out? ;)

For me it's just a number for observation, I'm not too concerned with the units as a larger negative number is something I try to avoid.

does it come with all the hard ware for the install? or i should say what comes with the kit??

I bought mine from Kennedy. It comes with the gauge, wiring harness and the necessary probes/sending units. It is a complete kit with the exception of mounting hardware.

I recommend the overhead console mount that someone here on the board sells.:D

i know about the mount, but the attitude is already up there. now if you had another way of mounting those guages without putting them on the a-pillar, you might have a :deal: . i already have a boost guage on my steering colum!! running out of room to put guages, maybe its time to scrap that old edge box :devilfing

I think it is psi. Haven't been able to see much of a negative with mine.

Does SPA use a sender or transducer? My concern is low pressure accuracy in which senders fall short. I have found that even the senders with a 0-15 psi range are usually off by a couple or more pounds. I'm thinking SPA has a transducer which will be dead on accurate. I'm currently using a mechanical gauge with a fuel isolator and it's a ***** to remove air from the system so it will be accurate. Time to move up to electronics.

Moss,

There is a local guy that you pull against that has a electric fp gauge in his Dmax.I believe he has it mounted in his pillar, and by the way you can't you can't purchase directly from Auto Meter at their headquarters.
