i have a 05 duramax and was curious where the pump is. I know on my 94 350 gas it was in the tank. Is it the same on the 05?

There isn't a 'lift' pump.

The fuel pump is a mechanical pump, gear driven, and located near the front of the engine, in the valley. It sucks fuel from the tank, and pressurizes it to 23,000 psi+.

I hate to dissagree with Max from up north but our trucks have the lift/boost/transfer/ pre-prime etc. pump bolted to the HP unit. It sits low between the heads on the front of the engine. Check this link for a photo. Later! Frank

Hey Frank nice picture.

I think Max war referring to a electrical pump usually below or near the bottom of the fuel tank. Hence the term " lift" pump.

Well, actually you're BOTH correct, Frank. The fuel pump is the fuel pump and the low-pressure portion is integral to the whole pump, which is what is shown in your photo. Neither can operate independently and share common drive shafts within the INJECTION PUMP Housing.

At least someone didn't call it a suction pump. Later! Frank
