i have the very light colored seats in my new 2007. will be using it for mostly a work truck. dealer said to use scotchgard on the seats and carpet . friend said the scotchgard will harm the fabric. who should i believe. covered the drivers seat with a dark towell for protection. will not do that again. took half a day to get the dark lint of the seat. used the wifes sticky lint remover. worked pretty good. is there anyway to correct the lint problem . What I've done with mine until I get my seatcovers ordered for it is that I put on a flat sheet (pick whatever size you think is needed)...that's doing the trick for me and covers top to bottom and I'm certain it's not leaving behind any lint...

3M Scotchgard will not harm the seats but there is better priced products on the market. Go to a carpet cleaning supply house and get one of the "off brands" they work just as well but are about 1/2 the price.

FYI the lint can be cleaned off your seats with your old roto shaver.

Scotchgard will not hurt the seats at all. I have used it on many interiors, works pretty well. On a side note, if you're getting in and out of the truck dirty all day, scotchgard isn't going to help you - they will STILL get dirty. I'd be putting covers on them if you're in and out dirty all day. I got rid of one of my Tahoes because it had cloth. They are more comfortable, but I was scrubbing the damn seat every weekend. Got another one identical to it in leather - best move ever. Still like the cloth seats better, but leather's easier in my line of work. :)

Scotchgard helps keep liquids from soaking in, will not stop the fabric from getting dirty especially if you get any oil or grease on them.

I've done my seats and carpet several times now and it hasn't harmed them. Will leave a dusty residue if you over-apply it though.
