The last couple times I drove my truck I noticed the ampmeter was charging abnormally high, a couple clicks past 14 on the trucks guage. Is this normal or should I take the truck to get checked?

You must be talking about the Voltmeter....14.x V during charging is normal...

If you think it is overcharging, connect a digital voltmeter to the system to confirm. Up to 14.5 is okay.

The current voltmeter is read 14.7. Is that still in tolerance or should it be checked.

Where did you measure? Check voltage at the battery terminals....the voltmeter in the cluster could be off.

I donīt have the specs on the charging system, the Service Manual only states that a voltage of 13-16V should be steady at the voltmeter gauge and the battery indicator off in the message center.
To my knowledge the charging logic (if any) of the alternator is pretty basic, not near as sophisticated as a premium charger with IUoUo logic.
