I finally changed the cabin filter....easy to forget about that. My fan was getting weak so I checked my filter. The new one is on the right....:D

I just wish they had left it in the newer trucks.. Irritates me that they removed it for the joy of having people able to mess with the heat settings.

Motovet...How long was that one in your truck?

They had them from 99-2002.. Then got rid of them in 2003. Not sure if it was from lack of room with the dual climate control or because nobody changed the filter anyway, or because they were cheap. I sure liked them for the dust I'm in all the time.
There was a thread started about putting them in a 2003, a guy cut a hole and put them in. I know it was there because I posted in it but I can't find it now... Must have gotten lost in the move or something. Maybe I'll go look again.

Ask lasergrave, he did the swap a while ago. I'm still waiting to do mine on the '04.

Ben, remove the two screws and pull the cover on the passenger side under the dash. There will be a clip on the outside of the filter cover, and a small screw on the inside....filter is in there. I hate to say it, but this is the FIRST time I have changed this filter since truck was new in 12/02'.:o

Mine does not have the little access cover on the passenger side  . I have to pull the entire plastic cover off -:t It is a real pain in the rear. I didn't change mine for 3 years and it looked like motovet's. I'll be changing it again this spring.

I guess it goes without saying that there are two filters in there. Motovet's post reads like there is one. Later! Frank

PS:Where is the best place to buy them?

WIX has them and are the cheapest ones that I found for my 01. O'Reilly Auto Parts carried them. Don't let them try to sell you one filter when it is a set of two in the box. If I recall correctly they were around $18.00 for the set.

That screw above the hump is not a problem. Just don't put it back in. Later! Frank

Those filters are washable. I've cleaned mine with Simple Green a couple of times. Then just rinse well with water and they appear to be good as new!

Found them at Checker today. $16.02 a pair out the door. Made in china. Look just like the OEMs. Later! Frank
