Can anyone tell me how to figure out whats the size of my alternator.
I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax with dual batteries. See Im having a problem electrically with my plow. After using it for about 3 hours I just run out of power. My headlights begin to dim when I move the plow and then eventually it just completely dies.

I am trying to figure out the problem and right now I am wondering if its not the alternator///

I am trying to figure out what the alternator size is and if its big enough to charge both of my batteries properly.

Thanks for any imput

Goto this site http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/vehiclesel.jsp?year=2007&regionID=1&divisionID=1 and select the truck as classic hd or the new style hd not knowing based on provided info. Then click on the RPO code and search down the list for alternator . May be more than 2 depending on model. Then look for them in your glove box label to see which one you have.

What condition are your batteries in. you can kill an alternator by tryin to charge batteries that are shot. since you talking about a snow plow that means its cold so that takes its toll on batteries too. The heat killed mine. I played the game.

Probably has a single 145A alternator.
Go to the VIN Check forum on the main page and have your VIN and build sheet run. That will tell you for sure which alternator you have.

Check your plow power solenoid under your hood! The actual place where the power is run to from you batts. Just to let you know many places, Carquest etc have Western replacements, Western is identical to BOSS. What plow are you running...replace the solenoid, only 10-15 bucks.

Your alt is plenty big to handle any plow you are throwing at it, so I would rule out your alternator imo......
