Is our 4wd drive "shift on the fly"? I thought we could engage our 4wd while moving at basically any speed. Don't all of our trucks have the same t-case no matter if you have a switch to engage or the lever on the floor? I can not get mine to engage unless I basically come to a stop or slow down below 10 mph. Any thoughts to why?

Mine is shift on the fly, I have the buttons in the dash.

I do not know about the lever in the floor.....

Which do you have?

I have a lever on the floor, but I thought it was the same transfer case.

let off the skinny pedal and it should go into 4hi up to 55mph.

I'm not trying to engage it while on the gas. I completely let off the gas, and it still will not engage until I slow down under probably 10 mph.

Front and rear tires at identical pressure? That can make a difference with the front and rear output shafts at different speeds. Just a thought. I know it can make quite a difference at about 45 MPH and up.

You might need to bump the go pedal to unload the gears and allow shift to take place. Start pulling the lever while you are lightly accelerating and while still pulling the lever, let off the go pedal; it should snick right into 4x4

Like he said or shift the transmission to neutral to completely remove all possible power/coast driveline loads and try it then. If it still doesn't shift then you have a problem for sure.

They are two different t-cases IIRC. My patrol rig has the floor shifter, it takes a fairly strong and persistant pull back to get it into 4hi while moving. Doesn't like to work very well when it's very cold. Just the nature of the beast.
