has anyone ever had problems getting pulled over or getting tickets because of tinted windows mainly people that have 20% or darker when the limit is 75%

yupp.its just a good reason for a cop with nothing to do to pull you over

i know they can and i dont mind paying a ticket if i do get one im just curious as to how many of you have had trouble. My buddy has a silverado with 20% in NY and has had it on for 8 years and never had any trouble. The only people i know that ever had trouble was people with ricers with really loud mufflers that drive really aggressive.

I have 15% on the front and 15 over factory on the rear and have had no problem for a few years now. I love it and wouldnt own a vehicle without deep tinting on the windows.

There's only a couple cops by me that really give a chit about tint:eek: but for the most part no problems, I just stay outta town on Thursday nights:cool:

thats what im saying i hate not having any tint on my windows. there are alot of reasons why tinted is better:rolleyes:

I think if you're behaving yourself, most of them will leave you alone. I was driving like a jackass in highschool, offroading in a construction lot in my lifted 98 Cherokee with 5% all around. Got one that night and he made me rip the film off the windows. Ass. I deserved it though.

I got stopped probably 4 times within a month for tint on my car when I still had tint on it. I never got a ticket but it got embarrassing so I took it all off. The limit here in this state Brian is 70%.

My truck is sitting at 20% and I've since moved 80 miles further north closer to work so I havent been bothered yet.

Once I move down to Florida, I'm gonna darken it up to probably 5%.

I've had every vehicle that I own with tint on the front two windows. I have 20% on the fronts and over the factory tinted back 3 which makes them about limo. I live right down the street from a CHP sub station and have to drive by it at least twice a day and I have never been pulled over. Many times they have looked at me hard and I thought that I would get pulled over, but for now none have been that bored I guess.

ive noticed mostly vehicles that stand out and are doing something wrong get bothered about it. i think i am gona be doing 20%. hey nick when you moving down south, i went down to Georgia for some motocross training and coming back up here is such a disappointment lol

I got pulled over at the Throgs Neck Bridge, one zitty faced MTA "cop" gave me an earfull about my tint. Since then, I just roll the windows down when I pass through there. Still running 20% up front...they can suck it...there are more important things for them to break balls about around NYC.

i got pulled over for running a red/yellow light....and waited about a half a mile to pull over because it was unsafe to pull over...i pull over...cop is a total dick and asks me if i skipped the part about stopping when the lights come on....asked me how old i was and that i should know by now to pull over...and just being an ass and then my passenger door opens and the lady cop with him says these windows are a little dark...also being a smart ass...and then to top it off...my license expired a day before...i got a thing in the mail but didnt send it in yet.....then he comes back from his car and says you wanna rip the tint off now or get a ticket...i said it doesnt come off that easy and he said im just trying to be a nice guy and help you out...i said you might as well give me a ticket for that too....so he comes back with a ticket for expired license...not pulling over right away...red light...and tint....oh and in the middle of all this he pulls me out of the car...frisks me...makes me sit on the curb...

That's one reason why I decided on 35 vs 20, besides the fact, that I knew I wouldn't be able to see sh*t when the sun went down, particularly where live............besides, my truck is black to begin with so it even looks cool.................

I have had no trouble whts so ever and I currently have two layers of 20% on front windows and 5% on the rear windows. knock on wood of course but the trucks been like that for awhile now. The only people that got tint tickets that I know of got pulled over for something else.

Same around here........not much problem with tint. The smoke blowing on the other hand, is starting to raise eyebrows though....especially with all the Dodges running around here......

I agree I think it does make a difference having a fullsize truck, because I have past so many cops during the day even and its pretty obvious tht my tint is illegal and nothing yet.

Ive always had 20% and never had a problem, im going to 5% soon with 50% windshield.

15% all around. Been that way for 10 years now, never a ticket. Only place I have ever had to worry is a small town where writing a ticket, any type of ticket is necessary because it is there main source of income.

It's usually people who act like an @ss when pulled over and have an attitude who get tickets...............next time somebody rips your truck off why not call a buddy to find it??

He LIED to me. Told me if I took off the tint on the spot no ticket. I took it off, he forked over the ticket.

i have nothing against cops at all. my dads been a cop his whole life and im also in training to be a part time sheriff, along with my other job. Either way i think everyone can agree there is always gonna be some bad cookies in the batch no matter what type of career. Thats why i dont knock ALL cops:p:

i have 15% all the way around never had a problem with eather truck even been pulled over for a speeding ticket by a state trooper just wanted to know why i was going so fast:banghead: but i know around here anyways they dont do much to trucks unless your being a real bumba$$ on a car thats a different story i know people that have just got pulled over for window tint

I have 35% on the windshield, 5% on everything else....dont really get messed with that much by cops but it is very obvious haha bright red truck and BLACK windows all the way around..But when I do get a tint ticket, 40 bucks to my lawyer makes the ticket go bye bye

We got bitched at by a cop for tinted windows coming back from Famoso about 100 miles outside of Bishop, Nevada plates and all.

Got 5% all the way around mine and it is DARK!! I live in Mississippi and have never had any trouble at all. Our law is nothin darker than 27%. However i did get pulled over for speeding in Arkansas and the AHP was not too pleased with the tint but only gave me a warning for the speeding or tint.

Ive been warned but no tickets yet with any of my trucks. Everyone I know has gotten them but not me yet "knock on wood" just gotta be smart about it! Im getting the front windshield done in the spring so that might irritate the cops a little more!

i got pulled over for speeding (turned off the radar detector for some stupid reason :mad:) and cop didnt care about my side 5% at all. he just bitched about my windshield and that if he ever saw me again with it he would give me the $200 ticket.... next week i started college so :p:

Mine are pretty dark. 10% fronts and 5% rear. I got stopped while going through the toll booth on the Throgs Neck Bridge. Cop put some doohicky on my window and said, yeah you fail, pull over for your ticket. When he relized who I was he told me to get them fixed, that I was only drawing attention to myself and asking for a ticket, and to have a nice day.

so funny thing....just got pulled over and got a speeding ticket(76 in a 60) and the officer told me my tint was to dark and ran their little test and it showed up at 4% on the front windows. Luckily he did not give me a ticket for that but he did say I need to take it off, of course I wont but it makes me alittle more worried now.

I got pulled over in brewster on my way to the carmel DMV last year. It was by a state trooper I was in the middle of traffic, just going threw an intersection with everyone else. Green light, not driving aggresively...just going with the flow. I saw the state trooper coming the other way staring at my truck like it was on Americas most wanted. Watch my mirrors after he goes by and sure enough he throws the lights on and whips it around, pulls me over. He asked for my license and registration then told me to put my window up half way, he pulled out this little thing that he slid over the top of the glass and said "if this reads 70 or higher you are ok" Well it read 13, so I got a ticket for equipment failure. Cost me $60, didnt even try to fight it...figured it wasnt worth it. I still have my tint today, It would take alot more then that for me to take it off. If I am ever in traffic right next to a cop I try to put my windows down just to avoid any kind of attention. By the way, my two front windows(regular cab) are 15% tint.

I have 5 % in the front and 5 over 15 % on the back (black out) and I have never had any problems with cops. I wont own a truck without tint mainly because It protects my interior, keeps me cool, and looks good.

two state troopers around here will pull you over for tint and thats it. nd law is 50%. one of my friends has 50% layed on stock. he got pulled over for tint and he clipped his meter on his window and it said 48% and got a ticket. he's gotten 3 tickets from him for 2% under the legal limit

My fronts match the factory back windows and I've never had any problems (with being pulled over for tint that is...).

every car ive owend and still own has 5% all the way around, (minus the windsheild...:D) and never had any problems, knock on wood...main reason i have tint is to keep the interior parts from aging and leather from cracking...

ive been pulled over like 5 or 6 times for tint and gotten i think 3 tickets. the funny part is that all of those times i was driving my ex's yellow ford focus which at the time was lowered with rims, a carbon fiber hood and a full exhaust (LOUD). even got yelled at by a cop on christmas morning in a convienent store about it but he didnt give me a ticket, only threatened to. after the 3rd ticket i stripped the tint. now in the 6 vehicles that ive owned over the years: 86 jetta, 91 tbird, 2 2000 grand cherokees, 99 f150 and now my truck ive had illegal tint on every one and have never gotten a ticket in my own vehicle. closest ive gotten was a cop saying "youre windows look a little dark" after stopping me at a toll booth on the NYS thruway to check for drunk driving. oh, and shes also gotten one in her infiniti G35 which is bright red with dark windows so ya i definetly think its more the type of car that gets targeted for tint tickets.

It depends on your state laws. In Washington ST you cant get pulled over for tint, but they can add it on if you get ticketed for something else. I have never had a problum with my 15% on the front, and my 15% over factory tint on the rear three. I havent been pulled over yet either. knock on wood!!

Not yet but it is not legal here. 5% in all rear and 20% driver and pass.

I have limo tint on top of the factory on all three rear windows and dark on the fronts, not sure how dark.

Yes, been given one ticket for the windows but that was after they pulled me over for speeding. Let me off with just the window fix-it ticket. Pulled over another time by the CHP for the windows themself, but let off cause I told him my cousin was a CHP officer (he is)
