Reminds me of a dodge but finally stoped in @ the dealer to check one they have. Crew cab. Deffinatly looks beefy.

Front end is rated @ 7000lbs.

I don't understand the GCWR though. Seems low yet the truck itself (GVWR) is rated pretty good.

GVWR Standard: 16,000-19,500 lbs

GCWR Standard: 26,000 lbs

I have seen a few in the local paper. The ford dealer (also Sterling dealer) was trying hard to sale them.

They may have a GCWR upgrade option available from the factory. Chevy and Ford do on the F550 and 5500. I think Chevy will get you to 30K and Ford is 33K.

What I don't understand is Sterling, from what I know, has been in bed with Ford trucks for years. How come the rebadged and re-grilled the Dodge for this one?

The actual frame on both the Dodge and the Sterling is Freightliner built. Front axle is a Magna unit, rear axle is a Dana S110. Both have the 6.7 Cummins and either the Aisin 6spd auto or 6spd manual. The Sterling is about $2k cheaper from what I priced. I had planned to buy one but picked up another D-Max instead. I want to buy one in the future though.

Freightliner Bought out Ford's Class 5 and up division and re-badged them as Sterling then they remodeled them they are a good unit above the Dodge re-badge anyways. I could have got a deal on one bought the D-max instead.

Thanks for the info on that. I saw on the site I posted the tranny brand and I remembered they came in some jeeps so dodge once again.

It all makes sence now. Was lost a little, never followed the ownership of sterling to it's parent company.

The company that owned Freightliner & Sterling until recently owned Chrysler. There's the Dodge connection.

IIRC, Freightliner and Sterling are owned by Daimler/Benz....and no longer owns Dodge. That's why the Sprinters all have Mercedes engines and they always tried to push the Mercedes engines on you if you wanted a Sterling or Freightliner....

I like the new sterlings they seem pretty stout.
