I usually run about 5k miles between oil changes. I run rotella 5w-40 syn. I have noticed in the past that I didn't get as much oil out as I put in. Well I measured it this time and it was about 2 quarts low. As much as I take care of her, I forget to check the oil level. My question is, does this seem like an awful amount to be using?

My change oil light just came on at 13500 km (8400mi) and the dipstick level is at the exact same place that it was when I last changed it. I put 10Litres in, when I change this week I will measure what I take out and post back.

I noticed that when I use Rotella 5W-40 I burn about a 1/2 qt every 1000 miles. When I use a 15W-40 it burns about a 1/2 qt every 4000 miles.
