Hey Guys,I have a 2002 Xtended Cab,SWB,Dura-Max[Plow Package].This is my every day ride and Tow Vehicle for my Boat[5000lbs.]Is there any SOFTER rear springs I could install to take the harsh ride out off the rear of the Truck? And still retain the Ride Height.Over bumps and dips the Front end takes them very nice, but the rear of the Truck does not.I have a Glass Bed Cover which adds weight.Anybody done this? Thanks![Mike]

I'd suggest Bilstein shocks first and see how that does for you. Both of my trucks have 1 more leaf than the stock 2500's, and I believe ride BETTER than stock. My 3500 came with the additional spring rate.
If you still think softer springs are the answer, bounce on the corner of the rear bumper, and then bounce on the front.

What are you running for tires? I had a very harsh ride when I was running BFG AT KO's, even with my Rancho 9000's set to level 4 and 5. When I switched to Goodyear Wrangler ATS and the ride is very smooth now. I had to give up some stiff handling with the BFG's, however. Now with the Goodyears, even with the shocks set at 9, the ride is smoother than with the BFG's and the shocks set much lower.

Check your rear tire pressure. If you are not hauling anything and you still have the factory Load E tire, then you don't need max air pressure in them. Drop them down and this will help the ride when you are empty.

Already been thru the Tires,Runnin' 265 Michlins[spl.?]Load range D.@50lbs.Shocks seem fine.Only have 25K on Her.I do have the Plow Package,I would'nt think that would have anything to do with the REAR spring rates. Also have the Towing Package, would that make a difference?[Mike]

I did not find the Bilstein's to be any better in the rear. In fact, I found them to be more firm. Bilstein's are just the ticket to get rid of the bounce in the front, but did not help much in the rear.

Your best bet to smooth out the ride and not change spring's or tire's or shock's is to put some weight in the back of the truck.
Put about 300-500 lb of sand bags in the back by the tailgate and it will smooth it out.
You may have to experiment a little with the weight till you find what works good for you.
The front rides nice because of the heavy Duramax motor smooth's out the ride, but the back springs, which have a large weight carrying capicity and no real weight on them give a harsher ride. Put the bags in and when you tow a boat you can take them out if you want.
