You're sucking air somewhere.

Here are the common mistakes people make:

there are 2 plugs in 2 of the 4 half-inch NPT ports on the filter. you are supposed to remove them, apply pipe dope/plumbers tape to them and re-install them making sure they are tight.

if you didn't pre-fill the filter you are looking at more than 10-15 pumps to prime it. probably 75.

but like socaldieseltech said, you're sucking air. i presume you pushed the 2 QD fittings together until they clicked?

I also didn't use those two fittings, not sure but didn't think they applied to my 04. I used the hose and the hose clamps

all years use the two quick-disconnect fittings. the hose clamps are to keep the rubber hose tight on the barbs (brass on one end and the QD's barb on the other). that's probably your problem as you just pushed 1/2" line over 1/2" with no barb. i orignally did my truck that way to see how long it would last and it worked for a few months. if you don't use the QD fittings you should use 7/16" ID hose, which is what i used to supply before the QD fittings..

I'm a dope...OK I put the fittings on and rerouted the hose to the hard line that goes up front. Well it primed in two or three pumps and runs fine. I think I also inadvertintly pinched the hose (front) between the tank and chassis as well (it was dark last night)Anyway thanks for the help guys. Nothing like four hours on an hour install!
