I remember reading about people going to an allison dealer for their spin on filter. So I feel like changing mine as the tranny was rebuilt and has some mileage on it now.

Local certified allison dealer, 13.XX and has a few dozen in stock.

So for fun I call the dealer, 38.XX each and might have one in stock.:eek::eek:

Sad thing is I bet alot of people still go to the dealer for the filter.......

So remember to check for a local Allison place as their price is great!!

I did the same thing sorta... I bought a couple from alli at 9.99 each. Went to the GMC dealer on the way home to get a price, 39.99. I asked why so much when I can get them for 10 bucks down the street from alli? He just laughed and said I was smokin crack if I thought I could get them that cheap.

You can go get a dozen or so from the Allison dealer and take them to him for a return, could make a good living. (Ha Ha) I guess he's never heard of the internet either. He has no sense of reality. I did the same price comparison one stealer wanted $40 and another wanted $45, hows that for structure?:rolleyes:

Check out Allison Tranny website. There are two H.L Gage and Atlantic Detroit Diesel Allison. Paid around 8-9 dollars. They referred me back to dealer however for flushes as GM does not like them to use their heavy truck flush equipment. They have Transynd which is cheaper than at dealer. AC Delco Oil filters at Advance Auto Parts and or Autozone around 8 dollars. Cheapest I found for AC Delco fuel filters is 36.50 at United Auto Parts. Stanadyne Performance diesel fuel treatment at D&W Diesel in Colonie. Hopes this helps.

You can also look for a GMC or Chevy dealer that sells Medium Duty trucks (TopKick or Kodiak). They come with the Allison tranny. The Medium Duty dealer prices for the Allison spin-on filter are a hell of a lot more reasonable. I pay $7.92 + tax at the local Medium Duty GMC dealer. They also sell TranSynd fluid.

Too bad they are not allowed to do warranty work on a 3/4-ton truck; they can only work on 1-ton or bigger trucks.

Vendors on this site also have them for very good prices, and they support this site so we can enjoy the site for FREE...
