I have a 2006 2500hd with the 6 inch pro comp lift, im wanting to add the cognito pitman and idler supports. Was wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went.

I emailed Cognito about this and they said they really don't work well with the Procomp system because the steering drop system on the Procomp already sort-of acts like a brace and there isn't much clearance for the cognito supports. They did however recommend the use of their weld-in idler arm brace.

I did the idler arm assembly on my 1500 Avalanche. Contemplated the need for the supports, and after spending time underneath with someone turning the wheels, determined it's not needed. The center linkage is supported on the bottom with the heim joints, and doesn't have an opportunity to roll, so to speak. I have them on mine for about a year now. No issues with them here are some pics.

I have installed the pro-comp weld in bracket on almost every chevy i have built. I think it is a good idea to have all the support you can get with a lifted truck. Remember if you decide to weld it in dont lay a solid bead, just tack it in very securely. YOu never know if you may to remove the idler arm later.

On the procomp kits, the idler pitman arm braces from Cognito do not work especially well. I tried to install them on my '04 daily driver with a 6" PC kit, but they really reduced my turning radius since there was interference with the steering linkage. The PC kit, as already stated, has heim joints at the bottom of their center link drop that are connected to the frame to minimize the front - back movement in the steering linkage. These work fairly well and do similar things to the cognito idler pitman braces. My biggest concern was my greatly reduced turning radius with the cognito braces installed.
I removed the braces and now the steering is still great and I have a better turning radius.
