I have one installe on my rig, and yes it works especially when pulling heavy loads on freeway and you want to hit a rest area you can set the time and pull the keys out and still have all your accesories run. Shopdiesel.com has a good price on them and make sure you get the 250 min run time saver so you can run your acessories.

Do you mean a turbo cooldown? We have that on our remote starter. It's nice when I forget somethin gin the house, I can hit it, pull the key to go inside, and still have the truck running.

I have a cool down timer on my truck and i like it alot. I got it at cool-downtimer.com it was the cheapest I could find and it works great. I don't know how much it extends the life of the turbo, I have heard that it don't hurt any thing, but it also doen't help.

Don't have one yet, but have plans too soon. You'll hear different/mixed opinions about it, some people say you dont need it, that this turbo wont let the fluids coke, etc. and others will say that its a good idea to let the turbo cycle its fluids and cool down.

I personally always let the EGT's cool down to about 370-350F when I am shutting down the engine for prolonged periods of time, especially after load or a long drive. Otherwise, if I am out for lunch or a quick stop, around 400.

May want to look into the Viper/Code Alarm security systems also, they have remote starters, turbo timers and outright security.

I've got one and really like it. Mine is the Diesel Turbo LifeSaver from Baker Auto Accessories. It's fairly easy to install, and it allows me to safely leave my truck idling without worry of theft. I take the keys with me, so once the thief hits the brake, he can't re-start it again. By that time I'll be back outside wailing on him and/or shooting at him with one of my assorted weapons. If he's big I might have to pull my .50 on him.

Does anyone make a turbo timer that uses an EGT probe to shut it down when it reaches a prescribed temp?

I use the same as the coyotekid. Same expereinces. had it for over a year. One thing i will mention, if you put your keys in the ing and hit the brake you have to wait a few seconds before putting it into gear otherwise it seems to piss off the truck and puts the trans into limp mode. If you have a attitude you can just watch till the slip display on the monitor goes to normal, if you dont have the attitude just push and release the brake and wait a bit before you try to put it in gear.
