Okay, that wasn't supposed to post without the question. I bought a new PMD for my suburban. It was supposed to be a spare, but today the truck stalled twice while driving. I went to go change it, but I CAN'T FIND WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED TO GO! It's 3 degrees outside so I'm not standing out there any longer than I have to. Can anyone tell me where this thing goes?

You have to pull the intake manifold off, it will be on the driverside of the pump in the valley. You will also probably have to loosen the 3 15mm mounting bolts and rock the pump over to the pass side and just barely be able to get the 4 Torx 15 screws that hold it to the pump. Be sure you scribe a line on the pump housing/timing cover so you can line it back up when your done.

Well that settles it.... it ain't getting done tonight. It's 2 below zero! This will have to wait until tomorrow, when it's supposed to warm up a lot. It might even hit 18 degrees! Thanks for the help, Tex. ):h

I used a small trorks bit from a 1/4 hex drive set (it is only about 1" long) in a pair of small visegrips to remove the lower screws. I didn't want to chance messing up the timing by rotating the IP. If you have a new FSD already just leave the dead one on the IP and remote mount the new one, that way you won't have to remove the intake manifold.

remote mounting is the only way to go.Lessens the chance of failure again and when it does fail it takes 10min to replace.

Putting it back on the pump is a pain! Remote mounting out of the engine bay and sodering in a wire harness extention between the PMD connector and the IP wire harness or pay $100 for a plug and play. I've had my extension in for a year and in that time have unplugged it enough times to make it worth it.

New new PMD, or new used, new-new can you take it back.

I highly recommend a remote mount kit, Bill Heath's is the one I finally went with 7yr warranty was the final selling point,

Kennedy's remote kit is effective also, but I had multiple fails in the engine bay on it, mounted out of the engine bay is the key in several members opinion; myself included
