My wife gave me the Sirius Starmate for Christmas and yes, I still haven't put it in. It sucks when you're a technician and can't work on your own stuff. Anyhow, my question is this. Has anyone found a way to play the Sirius through the factory radio that isn't XM ready. I know there's a way to splice into the harness that would be coming from the XM antenna on a truck that has an XM ready radio, but mine isn't. I'm trying to find a way to hook this up without the tack wires and antenna all strung out across my dash.

I believe it is Directed, they make an adaptor. try www.tss-radio.com (http://www.tss-radio.com) I believe, they should have it. I had one for mine, but I wanted to put my DVD player in so I gave it back to my installer to get me the one for my Eclipse unit and the little snot went out of business and I lost my $100(wife's pissed, it was a christmas present). Anyway, yes they do have them.

Are you talking about broadcasting to a vacant FM station and then listening to it through the radio tuned to that station? If so, it already has this capability. What I'm trying to get by with is wiring it with a power supply from the fuse panel and then connecting it directly to the radio without having to use the cigarette lighter for power and having wires running to it that I can't hide.

The FM signal form the Siruis unit is very weak so I bought the fm antenna adapter. It plugs directly into the fm antenna wire so you need the gm adapters I picked mine up at Advance Auto for $13. I have clear audio now.

If you have a BAND button, you can buy an adapter to bring the satellite in as an auxiliary input, just like XM. But, you must have the BAND button.

The FM adapter is a must. Mine was spliced into a power wire under the dash and the rest just plugs into the same port on the back of the radio that the factory antennae goes into. Heres an easier way - Call Sirius and tell them that you would like to start your subscription but you dont want it to look sloppy. They will send you a free installation card to have it professionally done - they will bend over backwards to get your business. I'm speaking from experience here - between moving my sirius radio btwn trucks and now getting a new truck with XM free for 3 mo., they have given me 6 mo. free, 4 installation cards, and a free home kit - all in the past year.

FM Modulator's suck. There's so much noise and very little volume with those.

It is called an FM antennae adapter. Got mine at Best Buy - around $30 in a blue box around where all the other Sirius stuff is. I had no issues with volume using one - for me it was more about reception than volume. I mean, how loud do you need it to be anyway?

Loud enough to cover up road noise and to not have to turn the factory radio up so loud that it clips and distorts the speakers

OK, I looked and I do have the "band" button. You're talking about the band/cd & aux button right beside the bottom rotary knob correct. If that is the correct one, then all I'll need is the adapter mentioned above to bring it in as an aux input. Whichever way I go, I definitely want it to look clean, have clear sound, and be able to be cranked cuz I gotta hear it.

You won't get that with a modulator.

Another option that sounds like it would work for you is the PAC AAI-GM24 http://www.jpcustoms.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=16391&cat=306&page=1

I found it in another thread just a few minutes ago.
