: New Banks LMM PDA upgrade
JBarker-BanksPower 02-27-2008, 07:53 PM Hey Guys,
We have a new PDA software version on our web site for users of the Six Gun and PDA system.
We have added the following to the gauge menu and made a few changes to the connection speeds:
Added Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration status as a gauge selection for Duramax LMM applications. This gauge parameter is referred to as “DPF REGEN” in the gauge selection list.
Added an advanced diagnostics button for Duramax LMM applications which reads special tuner parameters that might be useful in diagnosing a customer’s vehicle.
Made improvements to the connection speed when connecting to the tuner.:D
67Gizmo 02-27-2008, 11:24 PM I just order the Six Gun w/PDA last Monday, would this upgrade already be done to it?
blamkin86 02-28-2008, 09:37 AM I'm about 30 days out. I'm also planning on a dyno trip before/after.
00s_dmax 02-28-2008, 12:33 PM as soon as exhaust comes out ill be ordering. any idea on when the exhaust is coming out?
I downloaded the upgrade and got a .prc file. Couldn't open that on my Mac running OS 10.3.9.

hemisareslow 03-01-2008, 06:51 PM very sweet....can't wait to install mine
rcmbrooks 03-02-2008, 12:42 AM My Six Gun w/PDA is being installed before I pick up my new LMM in a few days. Along with the Six, they installed the Banks intake and MBRP 4" filterback exhaust (couldn't wait for the banks and MBRP is the bomb for GM diesels). I'm really curious as to how this will all pan out considering I am in Colorado and over a mile and a half above sea level.... Many of you state that air intakes are of no relevance and just "swiss cheese" your stock box. Anything and everything can help where I come from; especially when the air here is 20% thinner than you flat-landers.....
I like Banks. May not be the "hottest". May not be the cheapest. But last time I checked, I bought a nice/expensive truck and I want research with conservative/safe tunes. If I wanted to walk someone, I'll get my supercharged Hyabusa out and lay shame to all.
00s_dmax 03-02-2008, 01:27 AM rcmbrooks. let us know how the six is on the LMM. also how the filter back sounds.
rcmbrooks 03-02-2008, 11:23 PM I'm waiting.

BHoward6.6 03-03-2008, 11:25 PM Jbarker,
would the, #3 Made improvements to the connection speed when connecting to the tuner. or any part of the 2.0 ver. Help with the LBZ? and if so, is there a firmwear update as well?

The 2.0 program will improve the connection speed of ALL PDA kits.:D
DLBartley 03-04-2008, 03:41 PM How much does the Banks w/ PDA run for the LMM. I take ownership tomorrow of mine and after driving my last diesel hyped up, I don't know if I can wait till teh factory warranty runs out.

Gotta shoot me a PM (or call) for that. I have discounts available for DP members:D

And the firmwear? What is the latest ver.?
deanandersen1 03-12-2008, 11:43 AM no just down loaded the update 2.0 no gauges for regen. banks tech support has no idea what i was talking about any ideas!!!!!!
JBarker-BanksPower 03-12-2008, 01:41 PM the regen gauge is located under the gauge setup tab and is the LAST one on the list. If it's not there try reinstalling the program
deanandersen1 03-12-2008, 03:51 PM have installed the update twice even put the update on a blank sd card installed it that way still no gauge last one is % power. called tech support and there clueless. still waiting for call back that was 6 hours ago
JBarker-BanksPower 03-12-2008, 05:31 PM Did you verify the version actually loaded correctly? I just took 2 PDA's from stock and down loaded the new program and it works fine. Try this:

tmm07 03-12-2008, 05:55 PM Mine is the same thing...it is the 2.0 ver also i did update it......no regen
BHoward6.6 03-12-2008, 06:17 PM And the firmwear? What is the latest ver.?
X2
JBarker-BanksPower 03-12-2008, 06:28 PM It depends on the truck. for the LMM it's still version 1.0
JBarker-BanksPower 03-12-2008, 07:01 PM I think I have found the problem. In order for the DPF regen gauge to operate you have to be using version 1 firmware ONLY. If you have another version then the DPF gauge may not work. Check your modual version and, if you have any other version other then 1, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you the correct version. This should fix the problem.:D
Nickdmax 03-13-2008, 08:11 AM I updated mine last week. I tryed it the first time and download it and it showed the 2.0 version but didn't have any gauges for my dpf. Called tech support and they told me to delete the banks software of my pda. Once its of your pda then download the new version of the internet. Now it work! So try that...

the dealer doing this for you? and under warranty?
iceman5883 03-23-2008, 01:12 PM Mine is the same thing...it is the 2.0 ver also i did update it......no regen
I just put mine on and it works great!!!!! regen guage comes up fine
hemisareslow 03-23-2008, 01:57 PM My regen gauge shows up on the PDA....but it always reads 0.....I just got back from a 500 mile trip and it never showed going into regen...am I missing something???
JBarker-BanksPower 03-23-2008, 02:00 PM no it's working fine. you just haven't gone into regen is all. You have a very clean tune with the six gun and it's not going to regen any more often then stock. The gauge will show you when your regen starts and when it stops but it will be awhile before it happens.:D
hemisareslow 03-23-2008, 03:55 PM thats what I was hoping to hear...aside from the 500 miles in one day I have had the pda installed for about 1k miles and still no regen....odd thing is after working a night shift where my truck idled all night I got the clean exhaust filter now message....20 min into my frive home the light went out and still no sign of a regen
JBarker-BanksPower 03-24-2008, 10:28 AM there is a "passive" regen system in the exhaust system. It has something to do with the tail pipe flow but I honestly don't know the details of eaxctly how it works. From what I can gather the passive regen system is in opperation anytime the engine is running. This is most likley why your light went out.

Whenever operating conditions provide adequate exhaust temps the ECM uses those temps to clean the filter "passively." This would generally only happen during towing, prolly uphill. When the DPF gets clogged by daily driving and normal operating temps cannot provide adequate exhaust heat, the ECM induces an Active regen.
Regardless of how "pristine" the Banks tunes are, I'd be very surprised if they don't clog the DPF somewhat more quickly than the General's basic tune. My stock tune required a REGEN about once each tank of fuel -- about every 300 miles. If a "Clean Now" warning light goes out after 20 minutes of driving, you surely just went thru a REGEN. If your gauge isn't showing any regens after 1,000 miles, I'd suspect the gauge.
"Elementary, Dear Watson."
JBarker-BanksPower 03-24-2008, 03:09 PM Then your going to be suprised because the six gun tune will not clog the dpf anymore often the the stock system will. On the PDA display, if a regen is occuring, the gauge will the percentage done. It will start at 0 and will read in % how much of the regen cycle has been completed. If it's still reading 0 then the active regen cycle hasn't started yet.

. . . inferring about once per tank, right??
If he's getting over 1,000 miles per tank ...
then you really DO have a tuner worth consideration~!

Who on earth said he's getting 1000 miles a tank? And where is it written that a regen "has" to occur once a tank? Regen cycles will vary wildly depending on your driving style, load, terrain, engine condition, average speed and driving distance. If yours is going into regen on every tank maybe you shouldn't be hitting the gas so hard.
