From what I've read, the Magnflow seems to be somewhat quieter than the MBRP. Has anyone else had an experiences with these exhausts?

I have the 4" MBRP turboback on mine and I like it. It is pretty loud but sounds great, you can really hear the turbo.

X2, but i don't think it's real loud, more like a rumble, the turbo noise is cool. I would suspect you would get the same noise with either. I do like MBRP, good company.

x2 on 1lowdiesel comment, I got a buddy with magnaflow turboback and his seems a little mellow and quieter than my mbrp. He likes the turbo noise from mine better than he does his on. It is a little bit louder through the mbrp.

Are most of the turbo back systems everyone is installing, just a straight pipe with no muffler ? If so, does putting a muffler on, defeat the whole purpose ? I don't want a real loud exhaust, but somewhat louder than stock is OK. Thanks

no, most people are just getting the systems and putting them on the way they come. if you want something that's not too loud but much better than stock just keep the muffler in there and i'm sure you'll be happy.

From reading posts here, it seems to be about 50/50 for muffler vs straight pipe.

I have the MBRP 4" with their muffler, and its a little louder than I would like. In some of my earlier posts I said the sound level was good, but after having it for a couple of months, there is more cab noise than I had hoped, and again, that's with the muffler. Bear in mind, their muffler is just a straight tube with baffle slots. There is no exhaust flow directional change or muffler chambering, so the muff is not doing a whole lot.

It actually is a very nice exhaust rumble and it sounds GREAT on hard accel, but this is my work truck and I just don't like listening to it when I am driving. The good thing is its quiet at hiway speeds. Most of the objectionable sound is around town stop n go. And most importantly for me, it is actually very quiet on the outside, which is important as I drive in residential areas a lot

I guess that's the trade-off for losing the emphysema...
