Had a remote starter installed yesterday, a MARS22+, at a local car audio shop. Was $290. instaled, then they said it would be another $100. to get rid of the factory remote, and have the door locks work off the new one. Is this GM doorlock interface something that i can buy and install myself, or should i just give em a hundred bucks and let them do it??

They probably mean that you'll need a certain module to control the doorlocks, and you do. Look at the "remote start help" thread in the stickies here. The doorlock module for $100 is overpriced. You can get the modules now that control both the passlock II and the databus doorlocks. I know what they cost and you're getting ripped off. There's 1 module that's an all-in-one. make sure you don't already have it and they're just charging you because you don't know any better.

How's the MARS22+ starting? Wouldn't it need the GM-SL2 for the VATS? If so, the locks and lighting come from there.

I have the box here and the only other module that was added was a "Omega lB-GMBP"

Don't know what the GM-SL2 is because I use Peripheral, but they probably used a passlock interface only, do databus....

so they used a passlock II interface only. They should've used one that includes the databus doorlocks, which is only a few dollars more. Now if you can't get them to trade it for one, you'll have to buy another module to control the doors. They should've done this from the start. That's piss-poor quality to let a keyless/remote start leave their shop without the door locks working and not telling you any different except for "it's gonna cost you more for that to work". Nothing leaves my shop like that. The price I give to my customer's includes everything hooked up unless you want it. It angers me to see people do this.....

Even the box says "KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE STARTING SYSTEM"
When i called and asked them for a price on the remote start, i should have asked if that included the door locks. I didnt, so it's my fault. But, your right, they could have been upfront and honest and said look, if you want the door locks to work off this remote, we can do it this way for just a couple dollars more.
