I'd like to add some tuneability to my truck, but I find the descriptions of the EFI Live product line not answering some basic usage questions:
1> Can I adjust tuning parameters with flashscan v2?
2> Does Flashscan use the nifty LCD to show any virtual gauges or any vital info while driving ?
3> Can Flashscan log ? Can it plot a log(s) on an X Y graph?
4> Can EFI Live / flashscan back off settings when it senses trans slip ? Or
can it display trans slip ?
5> where can I download a user manual for it ?
6> Diagnostics: Can I determine if I have a weak cylinder with efi live, by turning down/detuning a cylinder at a time somehow, or some other method ? ( pump design allows for individual cyl. timing , maybe ? )
7> Does the GM ECU have any provisions for detonation sensing or other safety mechanisms , not sure if it's feasible on a diesel ?
8> Do they have some starting point maps for economy tuning on an otherwise stock motor ? For reasonable charge /free ?
9> Baring lack of monitoring with flashscan, can I run a laptop while driving to get some of the functionality I asked for above , like virtual gauges ( not lists of numbers, but round gauge looking displays or bar graphs even ...
( the types of things you get on aftermarket ecu's for gas engines )
Sorry for the big list of questions !

[quote=lesd;2444499]I'd like to add some tuneability to my truck, but I find the descriptions of the EFI Live product line not answering some basic usage questions:
1> Can I adjust tuning parameters with flashscan v2?
Yes
2> Does Flashscan use the nifty LCD to show any virtual gauges or any vital info while driving ? Virtual gauges on your laptop screen
3> Can Flashscan log ? Can it plot a log(s) on an X Y graph? Yes
4> Can EFI Live / flashscan back off settings when it senses trans slip ? Or
can it display trans slip ?
No, it will not automatically defuel upon trans slippage. Transmission scanning is possible
5> where can I download a user manual for it ? Download the software directly from EFILive website, then download a stock tune from the repository on this site
6> Diagnostics: Can I determine if I have a weak cylinder with efi live, by turning down/detuning a cylinder at a time somehow, or some other method ? ( pump design allows for individual cyl. timing , maybe ? )
Your can check balance rates, No individual cylinder tuning
7> Does the GM ECU have any provisions for detonation sensing or other safety mechanisms , not sure if it's feasible on a diesel ?
Not on diesel 8> Do they have some starting point maps for economy tuning on an otherwise stock motor ? For reasonable charge /free ? Yes, repository here. But if you decide to buy EFILive, you would copy your stock ECM and TCM tunes from the truck and save them and modify a copy
9> Baring lack of monitoring with flashscan, can I run a laptop while driving to get some of the functionality I asked for above , like virtual gauges ( not lists of numbers, but round gauge looking displays or bar graphs even ...

Yes
Are there any screen shots of the PC screen to show what possibilities of gauge displays there are ?
I've seen the video tutorials, they are very impressive.

Just down load the software from here for free
http://www.efilive.com/download.aspx
It's the full version of the program with the tuning and scanning software, with sample tunes and logs to look at. Plus you can down load tunes from the repository here and view them as well. It will operate in demo mode until you register it ;) Nothing like having the actual program to see how it's laid out :)

You can also download our scan tool and tuning tool manuals. These are software manuals explaining how our product works. http://www.efilive.com/download.aspx#downloads8
For manuals on how to tune, what to change and by how much you'll need to take a tuning course, or do lots of reading here on DieselPlace. Nick has some great video tutorials you may like to look at http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200019

Thanks for the links to the demo software, I must have missed it on the web site.
Screen shots would help sell this, so yes, please post some. Good old ALT PrtScrn on windows should work !
