I went to the local part store today to pick up a few things. As i was looking around the store, I seen a dmax pull up. i seen the guy get out of his truck and come in the store. when he left, I heard his truck runing. that thing sounded like a cummins. I asked him what he had on it he said stock with the muffler cut out. then i asked him what kinda milage he was geting. he said 21 drving around and 24 on the highway. An im lucky to 16.
now i have a stanless steal summit 4inch turbo back. and his truck was way louder than mine. any idea why? I have a muffler, but when I put the exhaust on the truck i checked out the muffler, but it didnt look like much. you could see stright threw the thing. is it causing more restriction then i think it is?
his milage, hes runing something from banks not sure what. he had an older dmax like the 01-02 styal.
Im not good with the dmax yet. thanks for your input

he is full of shit if he is getting 21 around town. maybe, MAYBE if he feathered the throttle everywhere and took forever to accelerate.
i bet he gets 16-18 in town and about 21-24 on the interstate. im not sure why his truck is so loud..

When I cut my muffler off and added the delete pipe it got alittle louder, IMO still no cab noise. It sounded good when I got into it but still I wanted more so I went 5in straight. Now there is somewhat an anoying sound at 55mph but the rest of the time it sounds mean.... My fuel mileage never changed throughout the exhaust swaps until I went up in tire size.

I had the stock system on my '03 and cut the muffler outof it and it definetly wasn't as loud as a cummins. Now I have a 5 in. system and it is as loud as a cummins. I have a lot of in cab sound too. Pictures in my garage couldn't get them posted here.

i had an 03 LB7 for my last truck and id believe that guys estimate. it was a 6spd manual 4x4, had the edge EZ chip and stock exhaust with the muffler cut out and straight piped. the sound i got out of it just by straight piping it was unbelievable, not quite as loud as a cummins, but id say pretty close. as for my mileage, i didnt have the DIC that would tell me, so i never figured out city vs highway. i always took the tank average when i refilled, and that thing was always between 21-23 mpg. made me really kick myself in my ass when i bought my LLY to replace and now im gettin 17 mpg and dont have the sound quite as loud either! duhh
