The brake light, abs light, and brake system warning system message came on yesterday.Truck is a 03 cc drw.Got in the truck this morning to go to work an message was gone.Drove for about 25 minutes, lights and message came on again.Brakes feel fine.No leaks or anything.Used my predator to check for codes an the only thing that came up was P1172 which it did not have a description of what the code is.Don't know if the predator can read abs codes.Heard that GM is having prblems with the abs modules?Whats the deal?

Condition
Some customers may comment that the ABS light, Service Brake System message comes on intermittently during initial start-up. The condition does not cause a DTC to be stored permanently.
Cause
The cause may be a timing issue related to the cranking/starting of the vehicles. It appears that the condition is more likely to occur on vehicles with diesel engines, though it can occur on vehicles with gasoline engines as well.
Correction
Reprogram the EBCM with TIS software version 7.5, released July 26,2004 or newer. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) (SI Document ID #1451930).

Thanks Max. I have had this happen on a few occasions. I'll rest easier just having the mystery element removed. My Tech 2 and the manuals didn't give a clue. So far I have cleaned it up by taking the shotgun approach - plugging in the Tech 2 and clearing codes (though none are set), putting on the hand brake, depressing the brake pedal, and restarting. I don't know which, if any, of these steps resolved the problem.
Now I'll try reprogramming the EBCM.
