Two days ago the OEM batts were dead so I replaced them with Optimas,,,,this AM the engine does not turn over well. It appears that I have a load on the battery after key is off. Got under the hood this AM and, after engine is off, sounds like a small fan or blower still running under the dash. Is this normal? Can I pull a fuse to stop this ASAP?

Thanx for your help.

Since you can hear it, pulling fuses is the quick way to isolate it. I don't know of anything other than the heater blower that would be in there. Whatever it is, it must be powered full time.

Thanx for the reply,,,,,,,,,the fuse stopped the fan.

Any idea about what has failed to keep the fan running after the ignition is off? What should I be looking for?

Welcome to the site. It may help if you could provide a little more info on what kind of truck you have. I have the info about mine in my sig. I hope you get this resolved.

Thanx,,,,,,sorry about sig. First post but been an observer for quite some time. The fan must have been the drain,,,,,just need to figure out why it stays on after ignition is off. While the engine is running , the fan works properly. Speeds up and down. Just won't quit when the engine is off.

An elecrical schematic may help. You can find one at this site

You might also want the dealer to look at it if you still have warranty left.

The Blower Motor Relay, which is part of the Blower Motor Resistor Assembly most likely has the contacts stick closed. The Blower Motor Resistor Assembly can be found under dash on passenger side. This has a flat seven pin connector, wire colors TAN, YEL, PPL, LT BLU, BLK, ORN, and ORN.
The Blower Motor Relay Contacts are powered from FRT HVAC Fuse 30A, located in Fuse Block Underhood. This is the only power available to the Blower Motor that is Hot at ALL Times. The Blower Motor Relay is only energized with the Blower Motor Switch in the Hi position.
The Blower Motor Switch is Hot in Run, powered from HTR-A/C Fuse 25A, (Fuse Block – Left I/P). This fuse supplies power to the blower motor with switch in speeds Lo, M1, M2, and M3. With this switch Off, power is interrupted to blower.
