I was thinking about buying a diagnostic tool for my LLY DMAX. I am looking for something that can read and reset codes and is the most versatile for the money. Which brand or model do you guys recommend? Thanks

You will get the bonus of tire/gear size change capability, top speed limiter adjustment, AND the option to load performance files as well with the Predator!

Predator. Even if you don't want to up the HP, the other functions make the unit a bargain.

Thanks to everyone who replied. It looks like I'll have to spend the extra money and get the Predator. This is a awesome website!

Why sell the E/J? Stack em' baby! Plus the E/J has tranny protection, ability to monitor EGT's, etc., that the Predator doesn't. JJ :)

The Actron is more generic then GM specific. It will not display the injector balance rates. I also recall some folks saying it did not pick up GM specific emmision codes when they disconnected the EGR. However, I don't think anyone confirmed this by doing a follow-up check with a Tech II.

No, I'm not going to remove the Juice. I have nothing but good things to say about the Juice. I have zero intentions of stacking the Predator with the Juice, I'm really just looking for a good code reader/resetter. I'll look into a Acctron Scanner. Thanks

I have the Actron Scan Tool and like BH in AZ said, it's pretty generic. I was somewhat disappointed in the amount data that available to me. However, it can be use in other vehicles that have the OBD II system. So, I will have to look into getting the Predator ($$$) or Tech II ($$$$).

Correct

Rick,

Do you know if the Predator scan function will pick up the emmision codes that the Actron misses?

Thanks.

According to Predator it does. I have not thrown the code, so I can not say for sure. I have a friend at the dealership and I get mine scanned everytime I go in for service. Where in Arizona are you. I go to Tucson usually 2 times a month. I can show it to you if you're on the way.

Rick ..... Good to hear that the Predator is supposed to pick up the specific GM codes. Thats one more reason to get it over the Actron. If I get one, I will try to test it out.

I live in the southeast part of the Phoenix metro area, a couple of hours from Tucson. I don't think I need to see one yet, but if I do, I will send you a PM. Thanks for the offer!

My guess is you are dropping off RV's at Beaudry's in Tucson. They sure have a bunch of them there.
