I reading the latest copy of 8 Lug, and there are pics of the new ATS cast manifolds and up pipes, I think the nice thing about cast is that it would hold heat well and expand at the same rate as the block and pedastil. But how else would they compare to SS tubular headers and up pipes with bellows

With the big power trucks the temperatures are high enough to make the headers glow red. The cast pieces should handle those temps better.

I myself plan on going with the ATS cast pieces. I dont think the headers will withstand many of the extreme thermal cycles we could see when pulling.

I think both systems will have there place, but for my needs I like the idea a cast steel.........:)

Any pics and pricing on the ATS pieces? I couldn't find anything on their website.

Clint Cannon was running them on his truck last year at Indy. They looked pretty damn nice. Wade said they are not yet released, so no pricing could be given out.

I just talked to someone at ats today. They are saying around $1100 dollars for the manifolds and up pipes. 4-5 weeks until they are availible.

Hmm i actually dont consider that unreasonable if its true......

Headers will be great, but they do have a shelf life. They would need to be VERY thick, and they WILL crack, not maybe, they absolutely will.

For the jack that the headers cost they should put themselves on and drive your truck while you sit in a lawnchair and drink beer.

I can't wait until the weather is nice enough to that again.

Is ATS the only one making the Log style manifold?

Redline Diesel also made a log style header, but the last I remember he was going to test......haven't heard too much out of them since. Looked to be very clean and probably the most affordable.

Any news on these yet??

Headers are the best solution for flow, and with the right materials they will NOT crack. We are working on a solution for this need and the product will be available very soon at prices that are not ridiculous.

The major restriction is the up-pipes not the manifold, so we will have replacement up-pipes first followed closely by headers. For the serious high powered puller there will be sets made available in materials to handle the heat, without doubt.

Yes you are right headers will not crack when using the right materials. Headers are the best for Max performace and for Max flow.

For the serious puller crowd type guy I would settle for no less than full 321 construction. Yes, 304 can handle what most will throw at it, but there is no denying that 321 is the material of choice for headers in a very high temp application such as ours when max EGT's are reached and the pressure is on such as in competition.

We plan to offer both 304 and 321 models for all current model Dmax engines. We already know that the 304 models are durable and will last, but don't let anyone fool you into thinking that 304 is the way to go for truly serious competition power levels and of course the EGT's that accompany those conditions. ;)

TxChristoper, any news on the headers and up-pipes you were working on? Thanks
