I have recently accuired an 93 chevy 6.5 td i have researched some quirks with my truck one being the pmd or fsd. I have narrowed it down to this. I have replaced lift pump, filter, fuel cap, alternator, batteries, temp sender. I still have sparatic problems with pmd, fsd. I am also getting sparatic spikes on the voltage meter have tested wires connections ,grounds , trailer lights and brakes with no luck could this be caused by the pmd, fsd module. also i have heard that on the 93 you can turn up the inlector pump manuaqlly is this something you can do without pulling the intake and were is the adjustment at. thanks for all your good info this site is aswome for the novice diesel enthusiast, have learned a great deal thanks

Welcome to the site, dnkbll !

Please take the time to fill out your signature (http://dieselplace.com/forum/profile.php?do=editsignature), so we can see what you know about your truck... use mine as an example. We can't help you without knowing what you have, and it saves on a lot of dumb questions on our part :)

Also, I'd suggest you spend some time reading through the FAQ (http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53309) listings... there is some fabulous info there, collected and categorized to help you get a handle on your truck. Time spent reading in there will really help you out later!

Finally, to your questions:

You have a '93, which means you have a manual Injection Pump (IP). This is a good thing, as you can indeed 'turn it up' manually. However, you must install some gauges and make some other modifications before you even THINK of doing this, as serious problems can arise when things aren't 'turned up' properly.

Secondly, having a manual IP means you DO NOT have a PMD/FSD. The PMD/FSD is the electronic part of the electronic ignition found from 1994-2000, and is indeed a pain in the butt. It's not YOUR pain, though, 'cause you don't have one.

Hope this helps; spend some time in the FAQs, and don't hesitate to ask if you need clarifications!
