What are yall paying for the powdercoating on yalls H2s?


Im thinking about doin a little coating on my wheels and I got a quote of $230/ wheel and I thought that was insane to pay almost a grand for powdercoating

just got mine done in gainesville tx for 40 each wheel.

That is a rip off man. You should be able to do all 4 for that price. I could see it being a little more if you weren't going a solid color and there is a lot of tape work to do.

They better use diamond bits for that price!

Well I have the chrome H2s and I wanna do the rough part either white or black but leave the chrome part chrome.

that price does sound high. alot depends on the powder color and if its flat color or candy, low or high cure and if they sandblast or just scuff what ever thier coating. the powder i paid for my rims and lift cost me 160.00 for 6 lbs and i got hooked up. so it depends. to give an idea i got qouted 1000.00 for four rims and all the parts for my lift. i ended up paying half that from my buddy.

Ya know for the price of powdercoating I can get set up to powdercoat em myself.

I know I can do it. Hell I have painted cars before and from what I hear powdercoating is alot more forgiving than paint. -- I might have to get set up and then let it pay for itself once I get the hang of it.

I got quoted $65 a wheel. Didn't include stripping the wheel, which they charge by the hour for. BUt a lot better than the $200 per wheel I got from another powder coater. I think I'm going to order the KMC Badlands in Bronze, I found out it's just paint on there, put a little aircraft stripper on them, and then have them powdercoated Black! I'll get the wheels I really wanted in the color I wanted! WHOOO HOOO! I'm not an expert on powdercoating, but that price sounds high! Good luck!

Sounds easy doesn't it? I have a powder coating rig in my workshop. Trust me, everything you know about painting, FORGET IT. It's a completely different ballgame. The super low pressure you use to powder coat is more letting the powder fall on the surface than spraying it on. The nice part is the fact that if you completely screw it up, blow the powder off with an air nozzle and start over. Once you have the surface the way you want it, pop it in the oven for a few minutes. Comes out with a besutiful gloss that's tough as nails. And yes, I paid under $1000 for the whole setup including the oven.
