My truck has been at the dealer getting its 3rd set of warranty injectors. Well I finally picked it up today 2 days late and still had to sit there for 2 hours waiting. My plan was to come home and hook up to my trailer which is already loaded for a weekend at the sand dunes with friends who are already there. Well right away I notice it is acting really weird and thought maybe it is the tranny relearning. After a few miles the SES light turns on and when I get home it comes up as a 0106 code on my PPE Xcellerator. I checked all of the connections at the MAP sensor and Barometric pressure sensor and everything is fine. I don't see anything else out of place. The truck has very little power in the low RPM's and hesitates tremendously when you give it any throttle. It feels like there is horrible turbo lag. I mean this 300 hp motor is literally having a hard time pulling my truck up some of the streets around my house that have a little grade to them. There is no way in hell I am going to hook my trailer up to the truck and try to climb over the grade between my house and the dunes.

Any guesses? I would love to find a simple fix to save my weekend.

If it is not an easy fix I am taking the truck back to the dealer first thing tomorrow morning to have them finish the job and give them a piece of my mind.

Thanks,

Derek

give them a piece of your mind and demand a duramax for a loaner vehicle so you can tow your tows and play on the dunes.

I'd be taking it back and having them fix whatever it is, did they happen to replace the fuel filter?

I dropped the truck back off at the dealership last night. I also sent an email to the service manager explaning this situation and making him aware of a few I have had in the past. I told him that I expect some sort of compensation and for my rental car to be covered. Now I just have to wait until Monday when the service department is back in full swing.

I spoke to the service manager this afternoon and he was very helpful and is addressing all of my concerns and issues. He said that the main problem was the transmission needed to be reprogrammmed and that this is what was causing the serious lack of power and strange shifting. I don't know anything about the TCM and how it interacts with the Tech II so I don't know how the program that was in there could have been alterered. I have done a tranny relearn before and this was nothing like that. But anyways this will be taken care of and the service manager is going to road test the truck himself instead of taking the techs word for it.

He also stated that the coolant leak that I found at the waterpump which they replaced was the o-ring seal at the oil cooler tube. I have had quite a bit of work done to the truck including a head replacement and at sometime the round tube was slightly smashed and egged out. This is what caused a poor seal at the waterpump. They are ordering a new oil cooler tube and this should take care of the problem.

He also stepped up and is paying for the rental car I have had the whole time which has cost $500 so far. I already missed my trip so now they can take as long as they want to do it right since I am not paying for the rental. I am going to start running an additive in every tank from now on in an effort to prolong the life of my new injectors, since my 7 years is up in April '09.

I picked my truck up tonight and it is running great. First thing I did when I pulled out of sight of the dealership is load the PPE tune 2 and pour some diesel kleen into the fuel tank. It is running very smooth and I am so glad to have my truck back.

Turns out the tech reprogrammed the tcm but not the pcm and this caused all sorts of symptoms and issues. They also found a pin hole in the crossover tube above the t-stat which was leaking, so the tech must have hit it with a wrench or something to dent it while replacing the water pump.
