: Where to start modifications
Str8 Eight 01-19-2005, 11:55 AM I am just starting out and would like a fairly conservative performance mod. I currently have a high flow filter and straight pipe exhaust. I have been seriously considering the predator for both the performance and scanning abilities. I am just looking for opinions on how this would match up with my lb7 zf6 truck. Thanx.
RickDLance 01-19-2005, 12:06 PM LLY or LB7?
Terrain Twister 01-19-2005, 12:11 PM A lot of guys like it and think it's a good start and good bang for the buck. It really depends on what you ultimately want to do with the truck and personal preference though. For towing, 'I' prefered to go with the Banks unit. For fun a lot of the guys prefer the Edge. The ultimate seems to be one of the TTS products. Just give yourself 2-3 DAYS for reading and you'll probably find enough information and opinions to make you head spin.):h If after all that reading you still have some sanity left, you should be able to make a pretty good decision for your needs and wants. Either way, welcome and enjoy the forum.

DSTRBD 01-19-2005, 12:12 PM The Predator seems to be the best tuner on the market right now. We sell these about 3/1 over the Juice Attitude due to various complications. Go with the Predator, you will not be disapointed.
Str8 Eight 01-19-2005, 12:19 PM LLY or LB7? It is an LB7
partsguy662 01-19-2005, 12:22 PM jp - just keep in mind if you run the high hp programs, there is a pretty good chance you'll be in the market for a different flywheel/clutch set up as well.....
DSTRBD 01-19-2005, 12:27 PM Thought it was an LLY, my bad. Either way though, the Predator is an excellent performer.
RickDLance 01-19-2005, 01:19 PM Edge on a LB7. Start with the basic box. When you get the bug, AND YOU WILL, add the attitude. Then upgrade tranny, 4" exhaust, then up to Hot Luice. Then stack the Predator if you want more. You will have a blast. Just my opinion.
Gray Max 01-19-2005, 07:29 PM Just don't forget the clutch. A 120hp tune will make the flywheel sing. My next truck is going directly from the dealer to the tranny shop for an upgrade. It is expensive but for heavy hauling I think it is worth it.

RickDLance 01-20-2005, 12:17 PM Built in tranny protection for the Allison, add the attitude for boost gauge, egt gauge, adjust power levels with the touch of a button, and more features. Edge on LB7 makes a lot of relatively safe power, and driveability and MPG is excellant, unless you drive like me. :ro)
I ran one on my 2001 for over 150,000 HARD, HARD, HARD, miles! Edge by itself can be removed in about 2 minutes, even if the truck is DOA along side the road with dead batteries.
Predator has to have power and aprox. 10 minutes to remove. Predator marries to LB7, making it virtually impossible to take off and install on you next truck (or re-sale).
I have tried the Edge, Bully dog Power pup, Quadzilla, and Predator on the LLY, and the Edge, Predator, Hypertech, and Duramaximizer on the LB7.
On a side note, the Predator for LLY is removable!! Also remember LB7 Edge Juice and the Predator stack well together if you have enough transmission.
