Anyone know the GM part number for the Carrier Bearing?!? Any suggestions on an online vendor would be nice too... I normally buy my parts from 1AAuto.com but they don't carry it. My truck is the one listed in my sig...

Thanks

I bought mine from Eric at Merchant Automotive. He is a vendor here.
He asked my Vin # and shipped it to me. It does have to be pressed on and off the drive shaft.

GM probably won't have a part # for that, it was updated to a one piece driveshaft costing $400+:( to eliminate the carrier bearing.

Your best bet will be any aftermarket bearing. Best thing to do is take the drivshaft out and send it to a driveshaft shop and have them do it..

I got a part from Advanced and removed mine, the problem was the one I got from Advanced was to small (1.37" i/d) mine is 1.5655" i/d... I went back and they don't carry the part and Auto Zone could not order it the Duralast part # was A6064, the GM part # is 12472456... Now that I have pressed off the bearing it can't be put back on (I bent it up pretty good) and my truck is sitting without a drive shaft.

Should I keep looking for the part or just upgrade to a one piece drive shaft, I replace this bearing about every 60k?!?

Does GM have this shaft? I have destroyed way too many in my 01 to keep replacing them . And no-one in my area will build a one piece shaft.

Try a few more auto parts stores. Someone will have the right part. I had the same problem with mine a while back. I think Federated had the right part.

Try six states distributing. It is a Spicer part.

Pro Comp has a one piece drive shaft for $435 through some online gm parts distributors. The local Chevy "STEALER" wants $145 for the bearing and I have found a few online for $66...

Does anyone have an opinion about a one piece over a two piece drive shaft, I don't have a lift and probably won't ever put one on the truck?

i replaced the carrier bearing on my brother's 01 2500HD a couple of weeks ago. the part from oreilly's was to small, so i used one off a 98 3/4 HD and it worked fine.

GM part # 15109384 for the one piece shaft......$600 though:eek: We've never had a problem out of the new shaft, it's got about 2 years and 40k on it now.

diesel625 did you press the bearing on your brothers truck or did it slip on?

I checked on the 98 K2500 bearing and it had a 1.5748" i/d and was not available from Advanced. Now I have to go measure mine and see what the correct size is. The "stealer" wants $103 for the bearing and it will take four days...
