: Bull Bar recomendations
Romark1 01-19-2005, 10:24 AM I am interested in adding come character to my truck. I like those Bull bars for the front. There seems to be several trucks just like mine around town with even the same color.
They are the grill guards that are just in the center and don't go around the head lights.
I am interested in a stainless one with places to mount lights.
Can anyone recomend a brand to look at?
I have seen the Westin and Putco but neither one has a listing for a 2005.
Thanks,
Mark
DMAXYUKON 01-19-2005, 11:54 AM What about the Smittybilt Outlander Sport Bubmper Gaurd? That is the one I am interested in. I would like a smaller one but, that appears to be the only one out there that does'nt cover the headlights.
BlueOx03 01-19-2005, 12:57 PM Sp33d has a sweet one for sale with lights...check the classifieds...

Romark1 01-19-2005, 06:16 PM I would like one that comes up a little higher than the Westin. Maybe about to the middle of the grill.
Big Angry 01-19-2005, 07:50 PM Here is mine, the Smittybilt Predator. Still allows the use of the factory tow hooks and was suprisingly sturdy when mounted.

They have other brands as well, that you can check out if you want.

Just don't hit anything. Bull Bars look pretty but won't help you in a deer encounter.
gunbunny 02-27-2005, 02:39 AM I don't plan on it. But, imagine the damage to the front end without the bar.

The kinds pictured above wouldn't do it but I've seen trucks with the full wrap around brush guards hit things and they've bent smacking the front quarterpanels and hood where they otherwise wouldn't have been hit.

I agree with you on that. I bought it because I like the way it looks...not to protect the truck from a deer. That is why I have insurance.
UncleFester 02-28-2005, 01:07 PM Here is a pic of mine. I used some stainless steel brackets with PVC liners to mount the LightForce lights on. (they were too big to fit in the bullbar, and WI has a 2 plate law - so I had to add the license plate bracket (I was already pulled over by "The Secret Clan of the Donut Hunters".)
I'm gonna pull this off and probably put on a buckstop Baja... then i'll either put this on the wife's Tahoe - or just sell it. You do have to remove the tow hooks in order to put this bullbar on.
Yes.. i know. You either like or completely hate the lights. There seems to be no in between.

That's what I'm saying, I've seen minor accidents where Bull Bars did more damage then not having one at all. The taller ones also tend to fold over onto the hood and make it very hard to open in case of an engine fire following an accident. Just my two cents.
cdhd2001 02-28-2005, 02:54 PM If you want front end protection, you need to go with a full bumper replacement.
