Has anyone heard of or had experience with the Silverline Exhaust System?
They look like an equal to MBRP.:)

I have seen them they are OK but prefer Banks, The fit and finish is second to none, you get what you pay for.
The muffler in the banks system is tuned to reduce drone, a very annoying hum that can be defening.
Most all other exhaust systems just throw in a cheat a** glasspack to get the price down.

I've got a banks on my 98.5 24v CTD and it has a terrible drone to it at 75mph and up and especially pulling. isn't the Banks a 409 SS ?

I want to upgrade my 2005 when it arrives in the drive but a really don't want all the noise.

You may have a first design banks system, they did drone and I discussed with Gale and he put his engineers to work to fix it, they came out with a new muffler, about a 1 1/2 to 2 years ago.

If you do, the lifetime warrantee will cover it, call and complain and they will send you the updated muffler.

The other possiblility is either the muffler is in the wrong place or on backwards.
The early design tuned mufflers were not marked for inlet.
The muffler should be attatched directly to the tail pipe.
Also the hangers are very important to reduce drone, if you left one off it could do that also.

keep in mind that the 6 cyl is a lot more prone to drone than an 8 cyl.
The banks system is very quiet on the Duramax.

Does the 4" exhaust on the Dmaxs help EGTs that much more. Isn't the stock exhaust 3.5"?

4" pipe flows 25% more air than 3.5" pipe, but the biggest gains are in the muffler.
Bigger pipe and higher flowing mufflers will always lower EGT help turbo spool up, turbo cool down ect.

I had banks monster exhaust on my LLY and took it off because the drone was so bad. Tried it both with and w/o kitty. Was O.K. empty but when towing it was unbearable

The ATS pipe is not cheap but I love it because there is no drone at all

Sea Wizard,

The Silverline system was at one time the same as MBRP, MBRP made it for them. That relationship has dissolved but they are still using the MBRP pictures but it is not an MBRP product. It is built off shore, again not an MBRP product. The pics you see are not the product you will get.

The MBRP product uses a ceramic blanket and stainless steel wool as the muffler packing material, it will last as long as you or I will last anyway. We have sold hundreds as we are the USA's largest MBRP distributor and get excellent customer response from Duramax owners. Check the review section of this site there is a full write up and pics on a dual system there, lots of great info. Check our site too as we have pics, sound bites and install info there too.

Call us if you have any questions and we will be glad to help you.
