I am going to be buying a CC, SB, Duramax soon but have not 100% decided on which way I want to go. I really want a manual tranny but they are hard to find. I have been doing much reading on this site and others. I see that the 6 spd has fly wheel issues ($2500 out of warrenty) and that the allison can have many issues modded or not ($7500 out of warrenty). I will most likly buy a used truck with over 36K miles on it. How good is the tranny? I can not afford $7500 if the allison goes out.

I will be leaving the truck stock, not mods for now. Can I expect 200K from the tranny, or only 50K?

7500 for an Allison is not accurate

A Superheavy duty rebuilt unit can be had for less then 5k.

I know of many stock allisons with 300k on them, nothing done except maint fluid/filter changes
