The trans was designed by Allison to use a TES-295 fluid, specifically Transynd by Castrol. Which is, by the way, NOT what GM puts in them at their factory. Go figure...

Do a search here on Transynd, and you will find a lot of info that is pretty convincing in favor of a TES-295 fluid. Although there's not a lot of companies offering it now, Mobil 1 has a TES-295 fluid, AND its available from a supporting vendor AV Lube

Here's their product

transynd is a very good oil. mobil 1 makes some good fluid that meets allisons specs now.

I'm going to do the "Hoot" flush as soon as the weather breaks around here. I've always been partial to Mobil 1, but I just found out I can get a 5 gallon pail of the actual Transynd from my Alli dealer for $140.00, which is basically a free gallon compared to George's prices. Not sure what I'm going to do...

If I knew I could do the flush with 4 gallons, I'd definitely go with the Mobil 1.

Anybody done it with 4 gals?
