was goin on the highway raceing my buddy in his cummings. @ about 90 in 5th gear with the tq converter locked,, truck just kind of died and then would not shift into od.. so i was doin like 60 almost @ redline, stoped turned off the truck and waited a minute and started it again and it shifted fine, threw the check engine light on but what was this, is that ""limping the trans"" ?

yup... pull your codes. should have p0700 and maybe another p07xx code. runnin aftermarket tuners will do that. limped mine @ 75 mph the other day.... 135 hp tune. its the heavy foot when the truck is in 4th or 5th that tends to cause the problems....

Done that before. I get an error message on the PDA "tranny slip detected"

sounds like a limp, power adder+big tires and it is probably going to happen. X2 on pulling the codes though.

when a code is tripped ,most have a default programing while the code is current ,some are noticeable ,some are not,it is designed to get your attention, and save itself, example, shift solinoid code trips and PCM/tcm take all power from solinoids resulting in 2nd gear for an older 4L80E,why Allison disables reverse for a TCC code is beyond me,but it does get peoples attention ,new to the forum, hope I wasn't blabbering to much, lol
