I have been surveying bumpers for quite a while now and still have not found the one for me. What do you guys like or have. I'd love to see some pictures all in one post. I am starting to consider welding one up, anyone have a good design that they would like to share. I like the Ranch Hand minus the diamond plate on vertical surfaces. I even did a double take the other day when I spotted a brand new tow truck with a painted to match push bumper on it (complete with thick rubber riveted to the face)!?! I wondered if this momentary town truck attraction was a sign of desperation. I am big on heavy duty utility driven stuff, but this may be going to far. I would also loose the fog lights... Sometimes I imagine bumpers appealing universally to loggers, I just don't have a clear picture of what that the "logger perfect bumper" would look like. What do you think about hot dipped galvanized finished and either left unfinished or primed and painted over? I've got a place to do the galvanizing.

Thanks,
Brian

This is from the parts manual for the EMP "Enhanced Mobility Patrol" Vehicle. Basically a souped up Duramax offered by GM Fleet to Govt. Agencies.

I'm told that materials cost $275ish for this custom fabricated bumper.

This is the one we made for the work truck, We added all sorts of gusset's and such to the back side of it. I truly believe the frame would bend before this bumper. We built this one over a weekend with torches and a welder.

Over the weekend eh... Sweet bumper! Did you build it in place right on the truck for fit?

Regardless of style I highly recommend LineX. I hade mine sprayed over bare metal and it's held up to three salty MN winters so far.

No, Just took some measurments and went from there. We probably put it on the truck 20 times making ajustments and such. I will say this though after building that one I understand why company's get big money to build them its a lot of work, and with the price of steel you will have $400.00 in material alone.

P.S. The bumper is painted with por-15, It is as good as line-X if not better.

I found the picture at bumperdude.com pages 3-4... I am not sure if I am allowed to include links, but here goes. The page reads like maybe southwest fabricators made it. There are more pictures. Let me know how you make out. I'd like one too.

the irony of this is i bought my truck with the bumpers on it and i just assumed they were ranch hands.. well they are "bumperdude" its just a little much for me with the cattle guard. anyways its a good bumper but at least i know what it is now. im going to try to build a replica without the brush guard
