I know most of the diesel lmm truck come with the integrated trailer brake.
mine doesnt it's an sle1 and I couldnt wait 5 mo. for another truck and had to have it that day.
So wanted to find out if I could get it from the dealer as it being a plug and play.

You're better off just putting an aftermarket controller in it. The factory system is only good for electric brakes so if you have anything with electric over hydrolic brakes then you're screwed and need a aftermarket controller anyway

No it cannot be added, you need to buy an aftermarket unit

I am running the Tekonsha P3 with awesome results. I made sure I did NOT get the integrated controller. I know some like it, but I am a fan of aftermarket for certain things, like brake controllers.

I'm sitting on the fence for now.
My last Silverado had a Tekonsha Prodigy...which I thought was an excellent unit. The new LMM has the factory unit which I have used on a 700 mile trip last fall with my 27' Prowler. In some ways I like the Prodigy better but I understand that the factory unit is tied into the ABS system. Apparantly when the ABS is kicking in, it decreases voltage to the trailer to preclude trailer wheel lockup. Sounds like a good system but I don't know how well it will work in real world conditions. I guess it's time to put the Prodigy up for sale.:D

A factory integrated brake controller Or known as RPO (JL1) would mean you would have to remove the whole IP and change the brake/accelarator wiring harness. A real Pain !!!
