Yesterday I got the Michelin XPS Rib for my truck which is a DRW. The guys there said that the bigger 235/16/85 would work just fine, but when I put my Gooseneck on, they touched without any weight on the trailer yet. So needless to say, I returned them. I was going to just trade them for the 215's again, but noone had them in stock around here and I noticed how good the Toyo M55's seem to be, so I just went to Les Schwab and got them. They have bigger tread, better traction and seem to ride nicer than the Michelins (I couldn't believe it either, trust me).

They are a little more noisy than the Michelins, but I like them so far. They complement the RMX Monotubes I got put on there too.

The downside is when I bought them, the guy at Les Schwab said they were rated at about 2,740 lbs on the dual axle and 2900 on the steer axle, but they were less at 2,570 on the dual axle and 2700 on the front.

We use the M55's on all our fleet trucks(about 50 trucks)and they are an awesome tire. Also, these trucks spend all their time in the bush so the tires take quite a beating and are very durable. I think you'll like them.

I like how that sounds, thanks for the info!

They seem to ride nice (for how a 1 ton dually rides) but there is a howl to them, but it isn't too bad.

They are a bit noisy on pavement but you can beat the crap out of them. We've had very few flats with ours and we drive on lousy gravel roads all day. They're like the old Timex Watch Commercial. "They take a licking and keep on ticking".

Kasl33, what size M55's did you decide on. I just ordered a set of 255/85/16s for my 2500. I have heard and read nothing but stellar reports on the M55 and was going to suggest them to my buddy for his 3500 DRW. He seems to be going through tires every 30K on the rear. He has lots of changes in payload both with and without trailer loaded, unloaded, half loaded, overloaded all Bumper pull...

Thanks,

I got the 215/85/16 because the 235's just get too close and actually touch under a load from the trailer. These 215's look pretty good on it though and are very meaty.
