I just got my 03 and noticed that it appears that there is no catalytic converter on it. Did the previous owner remove it, or doesn't the 03 trucks come factory with a catalytic converter? lovette 02-20-2008, 07:46 PM federal emissions 03, no cat PRK (peoples republik of Kalifornia) emissions 03, has cat shortcircut65 02-20-2008, 07:47 PM depends on if it a cali. emissions truck or not. easy way to find out, look under the hood, on the pass. side of the motor. look at the turbo, and all the exhaust piping. is it just a pipe going from the manifold to the turbo, then a bigger pipe going down the firewall? if so, then you have a fed. emmissions truck, and no cat. if there is some other crap that is tied into the exhaust piping, then you have a cali. truck, and the previous owner took the cat out. Does that mean that i have an egr valve? how much power does this rob? I know they sell the egr plates to eliminate them but i never thought i would need to research it. kasl33 03-05-2008, 12:06 AM Hmm... I didn't see NE1 or YFS on mine. It is a '03 as well. I just wish I knew how to get rid of the EGR. foreman00081 03-05-2008, 09:58 AM my 03 used to have a cat... and guys, instead of decoding vins and looking for egr's and all that just get down and look under the truck. right where the downpipe comes down from the engine and turns under the body there will be a big fat canister, thats your cat if you have one, if not then it will just be a straight pipe from the turbo to the 4 bolt flange.
